One drunken night some friends and I invented a glorious game by mixing pieces of different board games together... none of us remember the rules now but it was the most perfect creation...

    I miss Riskopoly :(

Strange to find another Chill fan... I have the original hardback here!
I have played Diplomacy until I was sick of the game along with Civ (the original board game).

Catan I seem to have really gnawed every little bit of juicy meat from it. Carcasonne is an awesome replacement though...

Into that mix I would throw Go (for something traditional), 1856 for some train shenanigans and perhaps some Axis and Allies for a bit of silly WW2 fun and Empires in Arms to sort the men from the boys (the grand campaign can take up to 100 x 6 hour gaming sessions to complete :)).

Never realised that we hadn't split Games into Video and Board, we probably should.

    DeV.

    +1

I've seen board game threads pop up here from time to time and the poor OP usually gets marginalised by the "solely virtual gamers"! :pac:

I'd always wondered why the board wasn't split.

Chess is the best by a mile because it has so many variants and involves real skill, no dices etc. Big fan of Scrabble and Boggle as well as Ludo and Trivia pursuit

Diplomacy would suit you so. It's like six player chess. No dice.
