    Why make an American remake?

US Networks find it hard to put out the original series. American's like american programming, not people with funny accents. BTW this is a view that the US networks make not me. I think they call it demographics rather than stereotyping :)

I don't know if that's necessarily true though - the Office had huge success over there, as did our very own Father Ted. Admittedly the Office did get an American remake.

For me, the glorious thing about this show were the characters and the actors portraying them.

How successful was Fr. Ted? which they planned to remake. Very few international shows get shown on US networks bar Canadian shows which are generally made for US network and based in the US starring mainly US actors.

Were there really plans to make a US version of Father Ted?

    Bump for this!

The third season of 'Being Human' will begin airing sometime this month. No confirmed date yet as far as I can see. But there will be a trailer for it on BBC One tonight..
**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT** If you want to see the brand new, extra-long Being Human series three trailer make sure you're watching BBC One at 10:30pm on Sunday 2nd January where it will be screened for the very first time.

    Source: BBC: Being Human Blog

And here's a couple of teasers..

EDIT: And here's the first official trailer (basically the teasers slightly extended):

This may be of interest for people who aren't following Being Human on Facebook. Search for "Being Human" on Facebook, like them, go to their Video tab and you can see the full length trailer there early.

For anyone that hasn't seen it, here's the American trailer

    God, it looks terrible

I just noticed it there. Didn't realise they were releasing it through YouTube too, thought it might have been exclusively through Facebook. Didn't provide any hints though, did it?

They didn't release it through YouTube - someone captured it and uploaded it (it may not last).

Not a particularly great trailer to be honest.. it could at least given us a confirmed date it'd start airing.

Probably won't last I reckon. If it does get taken down and people missed it on BBC3, it is still available on Facebook on the Being Human page.

Do you think it could hint at a possible delay of season 3?

The BBC Being Human blog I linked to above mentioned January as when it'll air numerous times.. so I doubt it.

That looks awful. And I can't believe they have the audacity to claim it's a "new original series". How is it original if you copy a show that's on it's 3rd season?

Definitely one to miss. The increased special effects just ruin it for me anyway. You don't have to have people walking through the Ghost character to know she's a ghost.

Has this ever happened in Being Human? I can't remember at all. Knowing them they'll have loads of OTT CGI wolf changes. When I saw it for the first time in the UK Being Human and saw how well they did it (it looked like it was largely animatronics and make-up?) and then watching it in the Hollywood movie The Wolfman, it was amazing how much better it looked in Being Human.

    Good to hear dubsgirl..

.. we should hopefully be getting a date for season 3 in the next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,201 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Rumoured date is Sunday 23rd January (2 weeks today)..

The BBC has released a press notice for the series in their Week 4 (22nd - 28th January) editorial - see here - and if it's on a Sunday, it'll be the 23rd.

It does say "Day and time to be confirmed BBC THREE and BBC HD" but they did something similar for 'Survivors' last year and the date corresponded to the Week they allocated the article for.

I'd be 80% sure this is accurate.

Season 3 is now confirmed to start Sunday 23rd January at 9PM on BBC3!

I haven't seen these posted yet. The Annie Broadcasts

Above is the first one but there are about 10 others on Youtube

That's why I love Being Human - it's similar to the prequels they did too for each character - Annie's one is brilliant.

Re-watching the proper pilot (not the original with the other people playing Mitchell and Annie) and it is wonderful! I had forgotten just how good it was and makes me realize just how much the American one has to live up to. Just 3 more days and we'll see.

New advert for season 3 on Facebook. Don't think it's on YouTube yet.

Aidan Turner hams it up big time there..

"Annie.. listen to me.. I'm coming to get youuu!" :pac:

    Looks good all the same!

    Bump...

    "Stake and Chips anyone?" :D

Damn enjoyable opener. The guest-stars were out in force - Lacey Turner, Robson Green, Michael Socha and Paul Kaye (
shame to see the end of him.. he was great!
    ).

Lacey Turner started irritating to being more impressive as the episode went on. Too soon to make a decision on Robson Green and Michael Socha however.
Was hoping for a better resolution to the George being locked in the cell with the full moon approaching.. felt a bit lazy to just have Nina show up.

Thought the stuff with Lia and Mitchell in purgatory was all excellent.. especially the scene on the train. And now we have the situation of "
    the werewolf shaped bullet
    ".

    Oh, please please PLEASE
don't bring a silly Annie-Mitchell romance plot-line into it. It's gonna happen.. I know it, but meh!

I can see an Annie and Mitchell romance coming in to play though - it's been on the cards for two seasons, but knowing Being Human, it's going to have something dark happening.

Do we have to use spoilers?

God, that was pretty damned dark really - Robson Green in the cage, Mitchell in Purgatory. You would never see the US version going that dark!

Pretty funny when George forgot the Jewish prayer.

It's a shame they killed off Paul Kaye's character so early - it was an interesting idea and would have loved to have seen him develop further, however the line before he died was so funny, as baquille said. I'm presuming Robson Greene will be a recurring character.

The cast will be on Alan Carr: Chatty Man next Monday night at 10pm.

Watched this earlier and it was a good season opener, with a good mix of drama and humour.

Some parts did feel a bit rushed but overall a good episode.

Anyone else notice the stake they used to kill Paul Kaye's character had a little wolf style carving on top. It looks like this wasn't their first time to have problems with Vampires. Could we have werewolf vampire hunters?

I watched last night and it was a good opening episode

I wasnt a fan of Lia as Lacey basically played Stacey Slater again imo

Only George could get nicked for dogging :p

Yes I think the romance between Annie and Mitchell is going to happen

Good first episode but not amazing. I also felt that Lacey Turner started off poorly but then developed well.

I wasn't happy with the Mitchell and Sally romance element stirring. I think it shouldn't happen but guess it probably will :( Robson Greene was good, surely those vampires will seek revenge?

    Ooh, Spooky!!!1!

Good opening episode. Mitchell and Sal^H^H Annie getting together is definitely on the cards, but could be bad. I did really like the scenes in purgatory, especially the train scene. Good insight into the way Mitchell used to be, and what he did. You could see at the end too when he turned off the news, that he doesn't like to be reminded of that.

George and Nina got it on as werewolves, instead of ripping each other to bits. That's going to be handy when it comes time to find a changing spot.

    Werewolf baby?

The good thing about Being Human is that it is quite hard to predict just where the show could go and the writers aren't afraid to take it somewhere very dark, so I can imagine a lot of complications with regards to Mitchell and Annie's buddy romance.

Overall an enjoyable episode last night, with a good introduction to the new vampires.

I'm glad the kid wasn't kept around as that could have been too much of a distraction.

Annie is a bit crazy clingy with Mitchell now and really doesn't want to be on her own.

Is anyone else wondering why we've seen nothing of Herrick yet?

So it seems there's a series of shorts they're bringing out called becoming human, which follows Adam from the 2nd episode of Season 3. It's interesting enough so far, but unfortunately it follows the same formula so far of a ghost, werewolf and vampire. It would have been interesting to have two vampires trying to help each other stay clean.

He went into Purgatory to save her, she's probably afraid of what will happen if she leaves his side.

Just caught up on the last 2 episodes.

I have to say I'm liking the whole help someone (thing) every week thing that they have this season, as it gives each episode a slightly different feel while still allowing them to move the main storyline on.

I haven't been grabbed by the latest season at all unfortunately.

The most recent episode was probably the best of them... especially the exciting last ten minutes with Annie & Mitchell locked in the cage, only for it to kinda fizzle out unfortunately! :(

The Adam episode started well and then felt extremely contrived, and almost served as nothing but a way to introduce an online series. Then the episode with the "drunk zombie" also started off in classic 'Being Human' fashion (very witty banter between the four leads) but then we got that vampire guy who wanted to be like Mitchell, which absolutely ruined it.

Maybe I'll give the series a rewatch when it's over, and look back more fondly.. but it's lost "something".

In other news, girlfriend got me first 2 seasons on DVD for Valentine's Day so gonna give them a rewatch too when the current season is over.
