On the game itself at the weekend, it's hard to look past Offaly. They're heading into the game on the back of heavy criticism within their county. It's a more relaxed affair for Kerry. Taking the game as a tough challenge ahead of championship.
Unfortunately some people's optimism that Kerry's 6 wins from 6 will equate to a win over an out of sorts Offaly is misplaced. Kerry would have to be coming from Offaly's position of tougher games under their belt to have a chance. They haven't been given a fair reward to play at that level. The game will reflect their lack of experience of a higher level.

Offaly will win this game by 6-10 points.

they beat Antrim and drew with Limerick - they are not going as bad as people say. if it was Antrim we were playing, id fancy us to run them to 3 or 4 points, but i just cant see us getting near Offaly.

still though, aint it smashing that our hurlers are getting a big day out like this? can only do them good, no matter what the result will be.

Awful stuff so far in the schools cup final.

Corca Dhuibhne playing all the football but cannot break down the 13 men behind the ball.

St. Pats have broken up the field a couple of times and scored 1-1 against the Man- to - Man marking.

Referee seems to be ignoring the black card rule as well with a few blatant offences waved off. (For both sides certainly not a biased referee).

Anytime PCD break forward they are pulled down to let the 13 men get back.

St. Pats are defending the Full forward line brilliantly though.

    Great blocking and tight marking.

EDIT: By awful I mean awful to watch. There are some lovely footballers on show, especially Glass (number 8 for St. Patricks)

Dingle had all the play but were suffocated when they got inside the Maghera 20. Then Maghera got the goal and from around the 20th minute on looked like they would run away with it. Dingle still in it just about but can't let Maghera get any further ahead.

Aye, that Glass is some player. Hopefully he's too old for the minors this summer...

Great start to the second half though - a goal for PCD...badly needed.

Luck break but a great finish for PCD!

The had an awful shot for a point but the ball broke and they stuck it away.

Suddenly they are back in it! 1-4 to 1-3

EDIT: Game has come to life. 3 great saves by PCD, 2 from the GK and one from the wing back.

    Game on. Good to see.

    Chómhscóir anois!

Eamonn put the corner back up to corner forward at half time and he's doing great work.

Yellow card for PCD player for no Gumshield.

Marc O'Chonchubhair having a great game at midfield.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Both sides look out on their feet.

Big pitch and a 2 physical sides wearing each other out.

Ref with a very tough call on PCD there, called over-carrying.

Another Yellow for no gumshield, this time for St. Pats

Another very harsh call on PCD for overcarrying.

EDIT: Class score from St. Pats midfielder Cassidy.

    1-6 each.

Thought that was a very soft free for PCD, but the defender did slide in.

    1-7 to 1-6

    Ah what a score!

    Seriously impressive!

The basic skill level here, fielding soloing, catching and kicking is brilliant for 16/17/18 year olds!

Yes there has been mistakes and missed chances, but fair play to every player on the field today.

    Thoroughly deserved.

    Congrats PCD!

    Delighted for them.

Fully deserved, especially after that second half.

Commiserations to St. Pats, a seriously good defensive effort from them and they certainly have some promising players that will be seen in Croke Park again.

Talk about a game of two halves. By my reckoning, 2 points for Dingle in first half, 2 points for Maghera in second?

Totally deserved by Dingle, dominant throughout second half and should really have been further ahead at the end.

Looks like Éamonn's words at half time had an effect, according to the MOM.

Basically "You've been together 6 years, you've worked so hard this year, all the work the players management, you aren't going to leave it at that are you?"

That young man was born to be an All Ireland winning captain!

    Some winning speech as Gaeilge.

Some performance from Tom O' Shúilleabháin also, started in corner back and ended up as full forward. MOTM undoubtedly number 9, but TO'S (no. 4) not far off.

Congrats PCD, came close last year as well iirc, good to see them go all the way this time round.

    6 points to 0,

We have a bit of a wind it sounds like.

EDIT: Backs sound unreal. Like playing against a wall. Every ball that comes in comes out straight out. 7 points to 0.

EDIT: 9 points to 2. Offaly coming back into it with goal chances, but Kerry hold firm. Tom Murnane holding the backline together.

Shane Nolan is doing serious damage so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Close one again,Bergin misses a goal chance

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Jaysus Kerry dícking about in defence and Offaly fail to finish a 1 on 1.

    Charmed, but not good signs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

    Offaly well on top now.
