Fantastic wins for the Hurlers and Dingle. What the Pobailscoil have achieved is quite frankly, amazing. 4 Corn uí Mhuirí's and 2 Hogan Cups back to back in 4 seasons. Players and all coaches/management deserving of the highest praise.

Also fantastic win for the Kerry hurlers and good to see justice served and the ridiculous roadblock to promotion smashed! Some big games for the next year now. Also possibility of Leinster championship for the Christy Ring winners.

Joke of a comment in last few pages, talking about getting rid of hurling or whatever. I'm a football man, first and last but have been to a lot of hurling games aswell. Kerry hurlers may not be a top team but considering the resources at their disposal they are a credit to themselves and the few hurling clubs in the county.

Great result for your hurlers today. Sounded like a cracking comeback.

Hurling in Kerry is very much confined to the North West of the county.

If memory serves, didn't kenmare make the hurling and football junior munster final recently in the same year?

They got to Junior Football club final anyway, don't know about hurling.
Kenmare, Kilgarvan..South Kerry. St. Pats and Dr. Crokes in Killarney, Austin Stacks in Tralee and even Duagh in North East Kerry all play hurling. Rathmore in East Kerry have an underage team afaik and there is huge interest being generated in Parnells in Tralee (new underage team)...so North West of the county is definitely the stronghold of hurling, but not the only part where hurling is played, no!

im a football man, but have huge interest in the kerry hurling team and today makes me very proud indeed.

them getting promoted means more at this point in time than Kerry getting to the semi of the football IMO.

Congrats to Kerry on promotion today. Great to see all the Munster teams in Division 1 of the hurling. Looking forward to having a possible Kerry V Waterford game in the Munster championship!

Anybody know why the club game of James Logue wasn't moved to allow him to play in both games?

Doesn't reflect well on the GAA, wouldn't mind knowing the full story but it seems very disrespectful to Kerry and Antrim hurling that he couldn't have been accommodated, assuming of course he actually tried.

We had the same thing last year with David Butler,he missed the Offaly game because of club commitments,he was a massive loss for that game

Eammon Kelly said on Radio Kerry on Friday that Jame Logue could have played the two games yesterday but he said it wouldn't be fair to ask him to do that.

Kerry must be the premier dual county in the country at this stage.

Waterford with the McGrath cup and hurling division 1B title the only county to have won honours in both codes at senior level this year.

    Deise supremacy

Phenomenal win for PCD when one considers the numbers they have to pick from. It's a great tribute to their coaches/trainers and also to the Clubs, parents and national schools who brought them thus far.

Going back over the last 5 years PCD have won some amount of trophies at Junior and Senior levels,as you said it is amazing with the small pick they are pulling from to have the success they have had.

im out of touch with the underage scene as i no longer live in Kerry, but apparently its not exactly a great team at all by any means??

last years team was backboned by 8 or 9 on the panel from PCD, but i see only 3 this year.

no kerry team should be losing this one, but given that its likely to be Cork in the semi, it could be a very short year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

I was told by a friend of mine who would know some of the players that this panel isn't as strong as recent years... But you can't trust Kerry people with stuff like that really.

    Half Time

    Kerry 0-10
    Clare 0-01

Lads on the radio surprised with how poor Clare have been so far,Kerry having it all too easy in the first half

Was more of the same in the second half

    Final score

    Kerry 0-14
    Clare 0-03

considering its now knock-out, ive a bad feeling that our minor all ireland title will be surrendered at Pairc Ui Rinn in the semi final.

to be honest, the entire thing is an absolute farce....Cork and Kerry hammer their opposition yet one of them will be out in the next round, with the 2 losers having a much better shot at getting to the Munster final now.

We benefited from this twice aswell so its swings and roundabouts

    did we???????

seem to recall one year under Mickey Ned there was talk that the team was going out to lose (think it was to Tipp in 2012) so we "benifited" from it, but throwing a game.

When they say there's only one left from last year, surely that's starting player or something is it?

Struggling to envisage that amount of people from a panel all moving at the one time, usually there's a few who have 2 years at minor isn't there.

No just one from the panel I believe

It is strange in fairness, you normally see a number of 2 year players on the panel in order to give them the experience of being in the squad for the year etc.

I think last year Kerry just had an exceptional crop of talent

Mark O Connor is the one that is left from last year's team.
Andrew Barry who was centre back last year is recovering from injury.

There are a few who were on the panel last year
    Stephen Sullivan
    Jack Morgan
    Jason Foley

Gavin White, Brian Shanahan & Conor Geaney were also on the extended panel for the Final.

The following year we benefited too- we lost to Cork in the first round but then they had Tipp in the semi and lost while we got through to the final beating the weaker teams.

Being in the final guaranteed us a quarter final spot while Cork were out although they had beaten us.

The year that you are talking about- we lost 3 times before we were actually eliminated while Cork lost once and were gone.
So this system has really, really benefited Kerry!

Yeah, it's mad. Don't think I've ever come across it to that degree before. Think there's still a few involved in Donegal after last year. Unsure as to numbers. Be interesting comparing it around the country, not that I'd ever be arsed going to the effort!

Yeah well the lads have pointed out that there's more than just one but it would be interesting to see how other counties do things - you'd imagine places like Dublin and other highly populated areas, would have a fewer amount of two-year players - you'd have to be a fairly talented 17 year old to make the larger county squads I'd imagine.
