Seems nip-and-tuck in Tullamore alright, would imagine we'd take the draw now, even with the slight lead! Edit - a two-point lead now.
Is a draw any good to us?

Do we make it through on Points Difference is it?

    1-12 to 0-14 now.

Yes, because of Offaly's Round One hammering, a draw would see us through on points difference. Home side move one clear with around 20 minutes left.

    Fúck it anyway.

Another mix up in the FB line.

    2-13 to 0-14.

    Game is up now.

    1-1 in 15 seconds.

Back to a three-point game now with 15 left, wouldn't put it past Nolan to nick a late goal.

Haven't had a sniff of a goal all day.

One of our best goalscorers sitting in the stands, because he couldn't contain his frustration against Carlow and lashed out.

Out to a 5 point lead. No hope.

    2-15 to 0-16

Still four between them, with three minutes left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

2-17 to 0-18 into injury time.

    Soft goals cost us.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,365 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

And another handy goal for Offaly.

    3-18 to 0-19

EDIT: Full time 3-19 to 0-20.

    Big defeat.

Thankfully Westmeath beat Carlow by 1 point to keep us safe from Relegation this year.

Disappointing end to the year for the hurlers, would have been great to get out of the qualifying group but it seemed to me going by the home games anyway that the life had gone out of the team,

As Ciaran Carey said every match this year was like a final and in the end it probably took its toll on the lads

Any idea where the footballers are training in London this week?

Was in the Kerry's Eye today that apparently the players didn't even know where they were going for this years trip

The team, captained by Bryan Sheehan is as follows:

    1. Brian Kelly Killarney Legion

    2. Shane Enright Tarbert

    3. Mark Griffin St Michaels/Foilmore

    4. Killian Young Renard

    5. Brian Ó Beaglaoich An Ghaeltacht

    6. Peter Crowley Laune Rangers

    7. Tadhg Morley Templenoe

    8. Kieran Donaghy Austin Stacks

    9. Bryan Sheehan (C) St Marys

    10. Paul Murphy Rathmore

    11. Colm Cooper Dr Crokes

    12. Donnchadh Walsh Cromane

    13. Darran O’Sullivan Glenbeigh-Glencar

    14. Paul Geaney Dingle

    15. Stephen O’Brien Kenmare

    Fir Ionaid:

    16. Brendan Kealy Kilcummin

    17. David Moran Kerins O’Rahillys

    18. Marc Ó Sé An Ghaeltacht

    19. Fionn Fitzgerald Dr Crokes

    20. Barry John Keane Kerins O’Rahillys

    21. Michael Geaney Dingle

    22. Jonathan Lyne Killarney Legion

    23. Anthony Maher Duagh

    24. Padraig O’Connor Killarney Legion

    25. Alan Fitzgerald Castlegregory

    26. Mark O’Connor Dingle

    Bainisteóir: Eamonn Fitzmaurice (Finuge)

Róghnóirí: Diarmuid Murphy (Dingle), Mikey Sheehy (Austin Stacks), Padraig Corcoran (Dingle), Liam Hassett (Laune Rangers).

    Eh... right.

Donaghy + Sheehan midfield, with Cooper at CF leaves us extremely exposed to counter attacks.

Young is a wing back playing corner back, BOB is a corner back playing wing back. Morley is a CHB or a FB playing wing back.

Very strange. I'd imagine the backs with the exception of Morley and Griffin are man markers and will follow their men, while Griffin and Morley will do a sweeping role.

Clare +11 looks nice about now.

Forward line is meh aswell- I'd like to have seen something/someone new tried out

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,451 ✭✭✭wonga77

Id nearly have given Fitzgerald the start, SOB is certainly a favourite by Fitzmaurice

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,493 ✭✭✭dobman88

SOB must be unreal in training. Very overrated imo.

Sooner BJK is given another chance the better. Always gives 110% and comes up with a score or two from the bench.

Barry john keane is a tough one to call, yes he can score a point or 2 but what i find is he tries too hard to impress, so many times he gets the ball, straightr away he shoots and misses, for every point he scores he cud have 3 or 4 bad misses or passes, he needs to settle down a bit, steady himself and pick the best option, he deserves a start and a longer run as id say he feels the management dont have confidence in him so its hard to make a big impact from the bench

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,895 ✭✭✭Poor_old_gill

Neither are going to do it at the very highest level at this stage so we should be looking at younger forwards coming through

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

I would start SOB over BJK all day long

Works a lot harder and is more direct in his play

No sign of Brendan O Sullivan who made a few appearances during the league.Did he not make the panel? He seemed a very good prospect...great engine, added physicality, direct with an ability to take a score.

I have time for SOB and his workrate and direct running are great attributes as you say, but BJK is far better as an INSIDE forward. Way less predictable, better accuracy off both feet and not a lot of difference in pace either. BJK is getting a completely raw deal off management over last 18 months IMO and O'Brien is starting almost every game. all I'd like is a bit of balance.

The team named for tomorrow is just strange. Don't like that midfield at all. Experimentation at the back is fair enough, but just hope Young is wing and Begley corner. Tadhg Morley is not a wing back though.

Clare may have dipped in form a bit since League final, but it could get sticky for a bit with the team named. We'll see.

I think what SOB gives to the management is that he can play out in the half forward line if they feel the need to switch things

I think he will end up taking over from Donnacha Walsh and play a role similar to what Walsh does now,

Anyway in other news, good to see this lad is on the road back

Juniors got out of jail. Limerick had us beaten, deserved to win. A late Paul O'Donaghue free to equalize came up short and was punched to the net.

    Lucky

Even more intriguing than our comfortable lead - Tipp are 2-7 to 0-6 up on Cork at HT! Would the Munster final be in Killarney or Thurles?
