Boiler trouble!!

    Hi, Can anyone out there assist me? We have this boiler 6 years never had any bother with it. Last month it wouldnt start so we called plumber out, the small air valve at bottom broke or stopped working.

    He restarted it and said he would be back the next few days to service it as it hadnt been serviced in 6 years (i know i know). He got it started all was fine until i could hear this high pitched nosie coming from it through the house.

    He didnt arrive back until saturday (2 weeks later) last and serviced it for me , he showed me a load of soot/ash in the boiler which he vacuumed out. Now since saturday the whining noise is still there and worst of all the boiler casing has gone pitch black!!!. Whats going on? Will it blow??
    Id prefer if someone with genuine knowledge of boilers/plumbing could answer me thanks
