    OT for a sec...There's a chinese in town...€3.95 for Crispy wan tans when you take away. €8.95 for the same wan tans if you sit in.

    In fairness, that's would most likely have been the Revenue's doing not theirs. Cold take away food has a 0% VAT rate whereas café (i.e sit down) food is at 13.5%. Businesses that provide both but whose tills can't clearly record the difference have to charge 13.5% across the board. Obviously some businesses choose to charge an additional premium...

    Hot take-away food is also at 13.5%, hence the reasonably large premium you often see for toasting a sandwich.

    In fairness, that's would most likely have been the Revenue's doing not theirs. Cold take away food has a 0% VAT rate whereas café (i.e sit down) food is at 13.5%. Businesses that provide both but whose tills can't clearly record the difference have to charge 13.5% across the board. Obviously some businesses choose to charge an additional premium...

    Hot take-away food is also at 13.5%, hence the reasonably large premium you often see for toasting a sandwich.

    Subway did something to work around that IIRC but is that not a new thing anyway?
