    Having trouble with my BT connection, it won't download anything at over 108kb/s. I've tried bittorent, http and ftp downloads and they all stop at the same speed.

    I'm the only one on the router, wireless is disabled and I've put myself in the DMZ for the moment.

    speedtest is 880kb/s

    speed is 108kB/s

    B not equal to b

    each bit denotes a single binary value of 1 or 0

    The byte most often consists of 8 bits in modern systems

    B= b

    B = (b/8) would be more accurate :)

    Completely forgot that >_<

    Guess its just time to call BT.

    EDIT: Might aswell try and salvage this thread.

    Why would my connection suddenly go so ****ty about a week ago? Was getting great speeds before this.

    108MB/s is about 900kbps to 1Mbps line speed. Indeed very like 880kbps speed test.

    He uses Vista 64bit, so he has more than just "internet" issues :P

    How do you know he's on vista 64?
    I'm on the same "ultimate" with no problems

    He's a friend that just hates Vista for no good reason. Normally have to listen to him ranting that he can't do something in Vista till I point out the big labeled button that does exactly what he wants.

    Or maybe the reasons to hate Vista are too numerous to mention?

    Anyway, back to the topic at hand. What should your speed be? You're currently on 1Mbps, by the looks of things, so if it's supposed to be higher, maybe BT changed you, for some reason.

    Supposed to be on the 8mb package.

    Only syncing at 1mb in the router.

    Rate (Kbps) : 1056 448

    Can someone tell me if these are good or not?
    Downstream   Upstream
    SNR Margin (dB) :  	        6.5    	7.0
    Attenuation (dB) : 	        63.5  	31.5

    Fixed \o/

    The problem was a dodgy filter on the phone line that was putting my attenuation through the roof so it could only sync at 1mb.

    Check your phone filters too. :D

    edit: oh never mind. You appear to have fixed it...

    To be honest the same thing happened me a few weeks ago. Dunno why I didnt think of it. My dad bought a new phone and forgot to add the filter back on properly.
