Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just a very quick two cents on the subject. Would those Boards users use Boards.ie as a way of communicating their progress and sharing information (not photos). But keep the content off site. Organize and discuss on a forum but arrange meetings where photographs and more delicate issues can be discussed.
There are many, many reasons for this and they're all positive. 2 for e.g. You'd find a broader branch of model willing to pose and it would eliminate the possibility of the notions of a naughty room by the less enlightened...and they are many.

Tbh, having to approve every thread is way too much hassle for any mod - It'll be a job that you can't do during your own full time job.

We've had nude threads in the past without any problems. I think it was my first week as a mod, one popped up for the first time. If any of the mods want to search* my threads started in the mod forum, you should find it pretty handy.

Afaik, it came down to NSFW tags on the title, in the post, and the pic's linked to, as with Fredmiranda.com - another family friendly site.

*Assorted keywords for search may include: titties, breasts & boobs

Something I would love to try ... it would be difficult to keep classy, especially in colour.

Once my girlfriend (by accident) was taking a pic of a beach (in Formentera -- all beaches here are clothing optional) .. and there was a girl in the sea naked facing away from the camera .. it was a small part of the photo and you couldn't regognise her... but a really nice pic all the same... (and not just cos she had a killer ass!!! ;) )

I've messed about with portraiture - have gotten some pics I was happy with but I would be interested in learning more about it. Would such a forum be solely for nude / glamour photos or would there be discussion about portraiture in general?

I think having a sub-forum is a good idea and could open up new areas of photography for people. Just a simple example is Dragan's post about doing some gore-type shots. Its not something that would have occurred to me and while on the face of it it doesnt sound like my cup of tea it is something I'd certainly take a look at. And isnt that one of the driving forces behind the this forum in general - to take people out of their rut/comfort zone and expose them to new areas and new ideas?

Going back to the access rules for a second, maybe something like the Sex & Sexuality forum where access is granted to subscribers on the basis that people paying for access are probably less likely to act the muppet with the extra bonus of the person less likely being underage*. Its also a forum where a lot of the content could be considered nsfw and the philosophy is whats said in S&S stays in S&S.

*Yes I know its not foolproof and someone could probably use those voucher things etc but its an extra hurdle and provides an another line of defence for the site as a whole if anyone kicks up a stink.

Would it not be better for the mods to decide upon access? Somewhat like the lolocaust forum?

    Cliquey appearance? Yes, probably
Responsible posting? Yes, definitely as otherwise then you are out.

The latter outweighs the former IMO..

It might be an idea for me to add Pixie's policy on art nude to avoid anyone getting suspended on the other side!

Feel free to post art nude shots to Pixie BUT please can make them private or protected (your contacts will be able to view them). You can still link/embed them here on boards in the usual way, but we just don't want nude shots hitting Pixie's public areas.

    [UPDATE]
We've had a few questions about this... Just to clarify: any account that uploads what we consider to be porn is suspended immediately.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

Hay ThOnda, did you do Tess's studio course or was it else where ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

Tess was there too, but the main person was, errr...., don't ask me for any names, sorry.
I just like the feeling that I have the control of the light, completely. I don't have to be glued to the window, black background is larger than my t-shirt... :-)
    But ut was cold there!

Just to pick up this thread again, I've read through a number of pages now and there doesn't really seem to be a general consensus if it's ok to post this stuff here or not.

I've done a few glamour and art nude shoots over the past couple of years (as a photographer) and sure wouldn't mind to post some of the results - so the question is 'May I or may I not do so?'

I don't consider myself being a pro in photography at all, but it's my favourite hobby and glamour/nude photography is not the only field of it I'm interested in. To see the variety of photos I do, feel free to check out my website.

In reply to the often made comment in this thread about the lack of quality among Irish photographers in the field of glamour/nude/art nude, I think there's a very simple reason to it:
There are hardly any experienced models in Ireland who are willing to do any type of nude photography. If the photographer is not a professional in this field and neither is the model (i.e. it's a friend, wife, girlfriend, etc. who's not an experienced model) there's a near enough 100% chance that the result of this co-operation will look amateurish and far from what both parties had in mind for the shoot.
Since I had the same problem finding professional models, but really wanted to get good results I actually arranged a couple of 1 to 1 studio workshops about lighting, posing, etc. with professional photographers in the field over in the UK (a professional nude model was also part of the workshops) and then booked a separate - again experienced - model and a studio in the UK (where there's a huge number of professional models who do nude shoots) to practice what I had learned in the workshops.

Having an experienced, professional nude model for a shoot makes a massive difference to the results for a number of reasons: they know how to pose, they know their own good and bad angles, they know a bit about lighting and so on. Just build a good rapport with the model and let them know from the outset that you (the photographer) are not a professional in this type of photography and the models input will be immensely helpful.

Shooting digital also helps in a big way. I always shoot digital and every now and then during the shoot, I'll go through the photos taken so far on the camera screen with the model and she always has some input regarding some of the images so we can do that pose again in a slightly different way, or from a different angle, or with slightly different lighting to eliminate a weird shadow and so on.

Ok, now this kinda turned into a post and a half, so I shut up now. Hope my observations did help some, though

As of now the forum's charter covers it as follows (as per following extract) :
    Please Don't
    • Be intolerant of others views or opinions.
    • Post nudity without a NSFW (Not safe for work) tag in the thread's name, and a link to all photos within.

So you can post nudes/glamour in a thread so long as you put NSFW in the thread title - thus the viewer can decide at their discretion to view or not and when and where to view - home, work, etc... The content of your post should be links to your hosting provider - pix.ie, flickr, photobucket, etc... and NOT inline in the post. So if someone drifts into the thread without knowing what they are clicking on, it should be apparent from the thread text as to what the links are all about.

I think that covers it as per the formalities of the forum.

I am doing nude photoshoot with Ivory Flame (UK based professional model) next week, when she arrives to Ireland again.
Working with her last year really proved that professional model will make shoot happen, knows her work and allows you to do photography and achieve what you want. Well worth those few quid. The best, easiest and the most productive photo shoot I have ever done so far.

I've no idea why men seem enamoured by her at all but she has a hefty fan base. I've seen her image crop up more than once on digital artist forums to, guys painting her seem really trances by her. Silly name though. Do you have to call her Ivory? You wouldn't be Ciaran White by any chance would ya? Your a fantastic photog if it is indeed yourself. :)

really just wanted to thank you for the reply and the info. I do seem to be a bit on the thick side today and couldn't find a button to just 'thank you' so anyway - thank you

Ok, I think (or hope, more to the point) I've understood the rules.

So attached are links to some images from my 'opposites distract' series. I'd classify these pictures as glamour. And just to be on the safe side, I didn't include any nude images - these are lingerie.

And to repeat what I said in an earlier post of mine in this thread, I booked a studio and experienced models in the UK for this shoot and the images turned out a whole lot better thanx to the models than they would have, if I would have shot an inexperienced model - considering this was only my second ever shoot in this field.

Again the following links may be NSFW

Well, she has a nickname, to feel a bit safer on-line. Her skin is pale and her hair is red. Now, let me think what BlastedGlute could stand for? :p

I had another shoot with Ivory Flame today and she was excellent and professional, as she always is. With her experience not only to pose, to work with light and with the photographer, but also having done plenty of work, she understands and could advise how a picture could be done. Very helpful, very patient and her English is just excellent.

As I said before, it is not only how she looks, but who she is, and how she works. It is always good experience to work with true professional. And no, I don't call her Ivory Flame.
And I am not local, you have to be mistaken. My name is ThOnda :D

Ah to be fair she is something special. She deserves the work and the attention as I'm sure she works well with people otherwise nobody would bother with her. I'm just distracted by how dedicated her following is. Deviantart is laced with images of her, a lot of paintings of her to taken from existing photos. I'd love to see your shots of her if you can show them.

I have few of the both on my pix.ie and flickr. But I am working on the body of work very slowly, something bigger is going to happen with the pictures.
