Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

wish i'd done that, told people about it now though :o

Sooooo I've put a pic up and that's about it. It's on Photoblog. Can you only post one a day? It doesn't appear to entertain me putting another up.

You should be able to put another one up, but I'm not familiar with it I'm afraid.

What did you call it? "Exploring the Recording of Important Social Interactions; A Passion"?

    How did you guess?
Well "kitesurfing cats in the shadows of my heart" and "exploring me, me ,me through the vanity of light and flowers" were both taken.

It wouldn't even take my full name, never mind giving it a title. Oh hang on...does that mean that my abridged name is what it's called? Damn those fancy double barrelled names.

So I then considered the lay-out and connectivity of the different sites and the one that The Baz has his stuff on looks very smart.
    Is this a good choice?
Free is important, simplicity a must and an active but not too busy enviroment are what I'm looking for.
Is Photoblog good for those requirements?

    I'm happy with Photoblog http://www.photoblog.com/thebaz

It is easy to use, and there is a good knowledgeable worldwide community, who tend to give good c & c , and also have good blogs ... nice to see non Irish sites

Yeah I've set one up on it. 5 photos uploaded. I'm gonna try hard and keep it tidy and cohesive. A good place for learning lessons of creating a collection.
It was its easy lay-out and international flavour that sold it for me (by 'sold it' I don't mean to infer I paid).
    It's Flickr-like.

Aye, I'd tried those myself, to no avail.

Right, I'll be updating all my links tomorrow (Finally). I may have missed one or two of you. Let me know if you do, and give me your full name, or whatever you want me to title your blog as - I don't want to use boards.ie usernames, as well... not everybody on t'internets knows boards.ie :)

Thank you, Fajitas. I sign as "M Buckley" on the Internet. It prevents gender stereotyping. "Photographe à Dublin" is probably the blog title I've used most and can be used as a tag, if tags are needed.

Just to mention Blogcatalog for anybody who would like to put their work out into a wider forum. It has a very pleasant template and logical themed links to other blogs in the same categories. It updates links automatically, not unlike Twitter.

Dancing Shades of Light is now dead.

    My new photoblog is at

    Living For Light

If you have the old one bookmarked, ditch it. It was hacked 4 times in two weeks and I'm getting the hosting provider to cancel the space it was on.

It's worth trying out different templates to compliment different photography
    styles.
    In
    dublinoise.wordpress.com/2008/06/18/17/

the "chaoticsoul" theme seems to have suited 2008 very well indeed:

    http://code.google.com/p/pixie-cms/downloads/detail?name=theme_chaoticsoul_v1.1.zip&can=2&q=

It is a coffee coloured template and for 2009 I found I could not put my finger on what would suit best.

Mimosa yellow, btw, was the top colour for this year among certain designers.

I'm getting very adventurous lately, I've stopped lurking and started to post some picture on here and today I set up a blog, going to try give it a go for a while and see if it's something I'm interested in. I've already caught the photography bug, so I'm probably susceptible to this.

I've only posted one picture, I don't have that many shots that warrant online posting yet. But i'm getting there, slowly but surely.

The joy of a photoblog is you only have to post one image at a time, so don't worry about it just that just yet :)

    Good luck with it.

i don't suppose anyone is interested in a "planet style" feed for these blogs etc...?? similar to this http://www.sgenomics.org/~jtang/feeds/ It's just a list of rss feeds that anyone can edit (provided you have an openid account which is free to get from a number of providers) then there would only be one rss feed for people to subscribe to, e.g. something like http://www.sgenomics.org/~jtang/feeds/index.rss. there wouldn't be as much messing with uploading dumps of googlereader list files etc...

Sometimes it's too difficult to take a new picture each day because work and family etc get in the way. However, it's slightly easier to publish a new picture each day (hard enough to be motivating, not too hard that you'll give up). And you still need to find 7 publishable photos each week, ideally on different subjects to keep it interesting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 601 ✭✭✭RCNPhotos

    Sure that's the challenge :D

I'm in college, trekking into and around town 5 days a week usually, if not I'm out on projects shooting for them so a shot a day should be easy enough. But I won't just post sh1te for the sake of keeping it up either. But hopefully I'l get something most days.

Anyway, went back and started into with some from the other day.

Just signed up to start my first photoblog now, nothing special at all photo wise, just would like something for myself to look back on and the wee one in years to come to see what daddy use to do and mutter about :)

On photoblog does anyone know how to separate entries if you're emailing them? i.e. from an Iphone? Or is it just one "entry" per calendar day?

What blogging service are you using?

Tumblr / blogger / wordpress or something more specific like pixelpost?

Here is a blog I share with a few others, its a mix of art, stories, articles, news, silly stuff, graffiti etc

we go through phases, right now it seems to be... well check it out!

livejournal, its nice and simple layout, shame that none of us have the skills to vamp it up a bit, tried putting a header but its blocked by a white background which we cant get rid of.

I started one about a fortnight ago to get myself out & snapping again. Also I've recently got into a bit of strobist work so it's nice to have somewhere to post as I learn - even though nobody really reads it or comments (yet?!) it's good motivation to be able to see your skills improve as time goes by, nicely laid out in blog format. Presuming I improve, of course :P

I have a pixelpost blog with a custom theme (http://pastylegs.com). Pixel post is great (and very easy to set up and use) plus it has a load of plugins that can do great things.

I think the hardest part of having a photoblog is regularly posting.

I think thats the best part though.

Mine's going over a year now and I would never have believed it!. It gives a focus, though you shouldn't just post for the sake of it. Quality is what matters.

But I'm always delighted i left the house and the laptop behind when i get out into the fresh air for an hour. Makes me feel great to get into creativity mode too!
