Snowing in Rathnew area - have heard cars are turning back trying to get through Glenealy. Snowed quite heavily earlier but much lighter now so trying to decide if we should sit and wait or try and get home - anyone know what the N11 is like?

Any snow lying in that area will be gone in a few hours no need to take any risks and try driving though it now.

Snows back, to light and the grounds to wet to stick.
I'd say 5 miles up the road the snow is great though.

Firing down in Dublin 1. Alternating between medium snow and heavy sleet. Been at it for a good 45 minutes now, but no sign of it sticking because it rained for a good 20 minutes beforehand.

It should be another great covering though for those outside the M50 ring.

In work at the moment (Dublin CityCentre) but my wife is at home (Saggart) and she just called me. Said it was snowing heavily all morning and it's completely covered again! Took me about 3.5 hours to get home on Monday so I'm bracing myself for this evening.

Just a quick look out the window and it'a coming down heavy here, fairly big flakes too!

Ah, a white Valentine's!!!! Me arse!

I think we're wasting our time with all those weather chart things, we obviously aren't that teddy bear shaped island thing that we thought we were for all this time, how else can you explain it, we're actually an island on the other side of europe or something.:D

Excellent, still very light here. Amazed you have so little left there, easily 5-6 inches here still.
Same in the village. About 6 or so inches. was there any again last night?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

Now there's finally faint signs of it sticking, but I've never seen it snow so heavily and without a trace of rain, yet it doesn't stick. Seems indicative of a small cold front with quite a low thickness.

Nope, seems to have carefully avoided us!
Decent snow here now but not sticking on cleared surfaces, very very marginal.

Seems like there are two airmasses - cooler one in Dublin, milder one in Wicklow..
    Interesting stuff.
