Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Sounds intriguing, do tell...
There will be a weather front crossing the country on sunday.
It is an atlantic front pushing in from the south and a somewhat weak affair.
HOWEVER as it moves northeastwards it will engage this polar air mass and turn readily to snow.
Notwithstanding the fact that it is a weak enough feature...warm air engaging with the really cold air has the potential to really pep it up giving the posibility of a swathe of snow for several hours in many areas.

    One to watch.

I've gone and jinxed it now.

Proper moderate snow again. 1.0c DP 0.6c. Must be good cold air aloft as it is snowing at Dublin AP at 1c/1c.

Thanks BB! The 06Z GFS Ensemble 850's look a tad higher than at present for Dublin on Sunday, with the operational being the coldest. I'm no chart reading expert, but recent experience suggests rain, no?

what is the m1 like. rumour has it it is chocka blkock

    @ Doyler1981

It will eventually clear off eastwards pulled by the low.
Currently it's circulation north to south.
It will continue to pulse like that but the blob will also move East slowly.
These bands wont be moving too far inland.
They will be heaviest near the coast.

    Not necessarally.
    Possibly only.
Theres just as good a possibility of snow due to cold surface air.

Remember, higher 850 temps above -5c for instance usually mean rain in Ireland because while it is snow at that height it is usually warmer on the surface and thats the air that usually melts the snow.

This time though the surface air is actually quite cold and at 2c or less mightnt be enough to bring rain.
It will certainly be snow on higher ground put it to you that way.

Heavy snow now. 0.7c DP 0.3c Amazing, because there is no wind here, snow is falling absolutely vertically.

Is there any snow along the south Dublin/north Wicklow coast?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

the shower i was out in was really heavy but with the amount of slush and water wasnt going to stick to that!

Surprised there has been more snow though!

Temperature might drop that crucial half a degree in the next hour or so to allow that slush to freeze and anymore snowfall to stick again!
