Not the best game for the neutral here. Not too impressed with Liverpool. A little worried about Gerard. I imagine he won't play against Portsmouth, bench maybe, just to be safe. Hope he's ok.
Damn Kuyt. He should've done better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

kuyt would try the patience of a saint

Not nice to see Gerrard having to go off, especially so early.

The wingers need to just keep running at the Everton defenders. They have the beating of them. They also need to stay on their feet.

ffs, that should be a second yellow, he should have a red by now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Everton lucky enough to have only two yellows.

Is this as dirty as I'm being told, Fellaini and Peinaar are both fouling everything that moves?

Fellaini to score with his fro getting the assist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

that has been the worse 45 minutes of football i have seen since the last merseyside derby

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Everton really are a bunch of dirty ****s!! This is their tactics. They were talking about being physical before the first game in the trilogy and straight off in that game, Neville jumps into Kuyt.
Before the game, Moyes is mouthing off about refs not siding with Everton cos he knows that Everton will be acting like dirt. Cahill elbowing Carragher in the face, Pienaar trying trying to break Lucas's metatarsal. Dirt!!

it's not that dirty, but ref is keeping cards in his pocket. Fellanini took a kick at Skirtel about 2 yards away from ball and just got a stern talking too. Peinaar had a very late challenge taking out Lucas an just go the stern talking to, 4 mins later he follows through on Lucas with his studs and gets the yellow, when it could nearly have been red on it's own.

With another ref Cahill and him would both be off already.

listening to the game on five live, Alan Green came out with this little gem

"you'd have to wonder if Benitez has picked Dossena to give Everton more of a chance"

    Torres is playing dirty too

Its a proper derby - sh1te on a stick yet completely absorbing

Really surprising that Benayoun isnt being played behind Torres. Hes faster than Kuyt, a better passer, has a better shot and is more skillful..he is much more suited to that position in general than Kuyt. Kuyt offers more width on the right than Benayoun, and is better suited to the RWF position.

Dossena continues to disappoint. For every good thing he does, he does 3 bad things.

Its ashame wehave no other creative players to play in behind Torres at the moment...

Pretty much - on other occasions both could have been off the pitch.
Ref has had words with Fellaini on three seperate occasions but hasnt booked him yet - the last only paticullarly cynical with the ball being out of play by Skrtel and Fellaini comes in and flicks out at his heels/back of ankles.

Everton looking like a very fatigued team.

Defence doing well Dossena apart (even if he is seeing a lot of the ball) Could be drinking at the last chance salon given Insua is back soon. Could he be first choice for Italy but third choice for Liverpool.
Benayoun playing well - even tracking back and winning some tackles.
Silly foul apart I thought Lucas has been decent - won a nice couple of tackles in spite of getting constantly kicked by the Evertonians
Torres getting no decent ball whatsoever touch has looked a little heavy though. Kuyt been very disappointing - Very little impact on the game just like Riera who has also been very patchy.

Could see this easily going to extra-time and think Evertons fatigue will count against them

Everton crowd showing their class when Gerrard went off - the epitome of small-time

I wouldnt be surprised if Kuyt was taken off for El Zhar and Benayoun played in the centre.

If he ends the season without silverware, he could be in real trouble. The FA Cup is another shot at this, and a worthy trophy. It's not like its the league cup.

    +1

Even Torres is hanging in longer then necessary in tackles.

and if anyone thinks he deserves it they are liars, he didn't actually touch him. Lucas must wonder what is going on having been hacked up and down the pitch in the first half.

    Yup same footage I'd assume.

The same footage that the ref had to remove a bottle from the pitch and Beglin commented on a coin being flung onto the pitch.

But you might be watching different footage.
