Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

1864 if memory serves me correctly, and yes have been through every part of it. Used to be a great plalce for hide and go seek when i was younger, i have relations living near it and i used to always be there.Inside is full of pigeon dudu and the likes, not in great shape but safe enough to explore, some of the wooden doors are still intact inside.

:eek:WOW! All those photographs are Amazing!! I Love the ones of Ducketts Grove, where I've never been and if it wasn't 12:40am, I'd hop in the car and head out there right this instant!!

CroppyBoy- What camera are you using? Are you photoshoping?? Actually what camera is everyone using?

Really love them all, you guys could put together a nice calender or something. I'd love to see more. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,051 ✭✭✭Whosbetter?

Yeah, Ducketts Grove is in my list of places to visit very soon.

Must dig out some photos of the Carlow area from old times.

    I know there's a few at the parent's place.

Must start learnin' how to post them on this.:)

I use my trusty Kodak CX7530, its only 5 mega pixels, is bulky and heavy and about 6 years old now at this stage, but it takes a great shot and while its still functioning I'll be holding on to it ;)

    Kodak_CX7530.jpg

Some pics I might photoshop, just to bring out the colors a little more, bring down the saturation or mess with the levels etc.

Your favourite place in the absolute torrents of rain.

I should probably have cut out the car & van (haven't learnt yet how to do it).

What building were these photos taken from? If you need help ask. They are serious clues in the background of the photos.
The building is right in the centre of the town.

Thanks for the pic of the castle :D

Now, as for your 'guess the location', it has me stumped, in the second pic the row of trees in the background look like the trees that are lining the Kilkenny Rd, outside the I.T.?! Am I close?? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,461 ✭✭✭Queen-Mise

No not the IT, one hint, the bottom picture on the right hand side. You see the big aerial, well that is the Talbot behind it.

that gives you a focus then for the trees :D:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,506 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Hmmm, have to say I'm stumped so, I'm still thinking though ;)

I'm gonna guess the Seven Oaks..one of three possibilities

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,506 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Seven Oaks sounds good, its obviously somewhere along the Athy road so, somewhere from the Courth House to the Hotel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,461 ✭✭✭Queen-Mise

no its further down into the town. The trees are on the little road opposite umbertos where cando is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Well the only other places i can think of are the Council buildings or the roof of the car park opposite Lev & Frye

I took these winter 2 years ago. There was a thick and uniform blanket of cloud in the sky and when the sun was setting, it fell below the clouds and illuminated them from underneath.

Queen-mise: are those pics taken from the top of the Town Hall ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,461 ✭✭✭Queen-Mise

They are taken from the a 'balcony' (that's being generous) at the back of the Court House Hotel.
Hence the trees on Cando being on the left hand side. I thought that the flats on the river & Talbot would come out bigger though. I suppose the limit on the size explains it.

As this is the 'random Carlow photograph thread' here's two very random photographs. I saw this snail in the middle of the path so I took a photo.
    B3AD07A65356428A8BF4C92D6376A303-800.jpg

He looked very vulnerable in the middle of the path so I picked him up and moved him closer to the wall before he was walked on by someone. I think I actually heard him say "why did you pick me up and then leave me down beside a dirty cigarette butt?!". Really.
    BE98ED2E42EC4FAA85CA772C90A27A9A-800.jpg

I won't say what part of Carlow I took these photos in in case someone breaks into this snails house and steals his television or something.

Not mine obviously, but CroppyBoy in particular will enjoy this. This is a really cool photosynth (:confused::confused::confused: - no idea what that means) of the Castle.

    http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=f95cf2f5-4c65-491c-98b9-9439b4d1071b

This is also linked to in the Cool Vids & Links of AH - where I found it :rolleyes:

This is class - you have to download a ickle program called SilverFish from MS to run it.

I've inserted the images for you.
They do look a bit big but I'll have a closer look when I'm at home.

    @ shayk1

Just a little tip, I'd consider setting up an account on pix.ie if i was you shay. I did the same, i.e setting up an account just to edit photo sizes for this thread. Just set one up and copy all the posters photo's to it that need changing and set each photo to private so you can't get in trouble for copying. Then it's just a matter of selecting the right size and pasting in the code. It's the quickest way i found of resolving these photo's that clog up pages such as this one did.

    Hope that helps.

    Just to keep on topic.
