    hi there anyone able to contrast endospermic and non- e... seeds????
    im stumped:(

    If all the endosperm has been absorbed by the cotyledons the seed is said to be non-endospermic, an example would be broad-bean

    If the cotyledons only absorb some of the endosperm the seed is said to be endospermic, an example would be maize

    An endospermic seed is one in which only some of the available food reserve in the endosperm is absorbed by the cotyledons. As such the food reserve is outside the embryo, in the seed as the original endosperm.

    Non-endospermic seeds are seeds in which all the food reserve in the endosperm is absorbed by the cotyledons. Therefore the food reserve is stored in the plant embryo, in the cotyledons.
