I've recently just inherited my grandad's old radio - its a Schaub-Lorenz Westminster 59 (Type 24010). I do remember it working years ago but it's dead now.

Can anyone recommend a good specialist that could have a look at it and hopefully get it up and running again? I live in Kildare but am willing to travel to have the right person look at it.

    Thanks!

    Made maybe 1959
    uses
    ECC85, ECH81, 2*EF89, EABC80, 2*ECL82 EM84

The EM84 would be a Magic Eye tuning. May be quite a good AM radio with line up. With a long wire aerial it should get many UK stations inc Devon Local Radio during day and many continental at Night. I think it has LW (R4, France, Germany all good on longwire) and SW (different countries and bands according to time of day, the "special" time periods are:
Middle of Night, Middle of Day, dusk/dawn = Grey Line (countries according to season North/South), just before Dawn, just after Dusk. Even a 4ft earth spike and metal core washing line will bring in stations world wide. Modern "pocket" /"alarm" type LW/MW/SW radios, cheap "world radios" are too easily overloaded and pickup interference more than the stations.

I've emailed someone in Limerick that could repair it. He may or may not "PM" you (Check your control panel settings). You should get email noticfication of PMs.

    Welcome to Boards :)

I have two vintage radios which I have been trying to have repaired by old radio specialist repair. I am living in Limerick and would be very interested in finding someone locally. The radios are a 'Pilot' and a 'Philips' . Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks for this timely thread. I too have an old Philips radiogram which
I'd like to get up and running, if possible. Any suggestions for the Dublin
    area would be greatly appreciated.
