    What type of car?
Why do you want to lower it?
How much are you willing to spend?

Its a Mk7 vw Polo, im not sure if i should just buy new lower springs or get coilovers. Im planning on spending as little as possible!

i think if you buy the springs, companys like fast fit etc will put them in, any garage will do it also

ok thanks, do you have any idea how much they would charge to install them? Should i buy the springs directly from the garage or off the internet?

try GSF they have two branches in dublin aand are very good price wise. actually if you check out their website it should tell you if they do springs for your car, otherwise ring them on:

    beaumount : 01 8622884

    southside : 01 4606062

sorry just realised i left that a bit unclear, gsf are a company that specialise in parts for german sweedish and french cars:)

Lowering a car any more than 25 or 30mm on standard shocks is not advised your handling will suffer as a result big time.

If you are lowering for better handling then go coilovers,if you are lowering for slightly better handling but primarily to make the car look better then go springs,H&R (a very reputable brand) do a series of springs called the cup kit,the lower the car by about 15-20mm and are ok to use with standard shocks, keith at alloywheels.ie in blanch is the man to see in this country about such matters.

Try East Coast Alloys in Ardee, I paid e230 last sat for lowering springs and shocks for a Civic

How are coilovers for daily driving? I test drove a Levin with GAB coilovers and it was pretty bumpy...on fairly flat roads

Coilovers for daily driving will depend on the quality,i have coilovers in my daily driver but the are koni i.e a good brand and are damper adjustable as well as height adjustable so you can get the perfect set up.

Yeah, I know, I had a standard one with just lowering springs and it was tolerable, with the coilovers though I'd say it'd break your arse

Was that just to purchase or did it include fitting?

Im looking at KW Variant 1 coilovers. Around €800 without fitting. When it comes to handling/suspension, you do get what you pay for.
