Your prob better off posting in the kildare section....
However as I live 8 mins away I can tell you that the nightlife is good...people are nice and shops are good...also its very close to dublin etc if you wanna go shopping there etc however I am sure you know that!
Places are only as good as you make them to be honest. If you were the type of person who mostly sat at home and only left the house for groceries and work you wouldn't find it great...however if your were a person that would make a concious effort to go out and socialise you would find it a great place to live...

There's plenty of things to do, lots of shops if you're into the shopping side of things (http://www.whitewatersc.ie/) and the designer retail outlet store Kildare Village is only 10 minutes away (http://www.kildarevillage.com).

It's very close to Naas also, if you want to go out there at night, it has one of the largest nightclubs in Ireland (http://www.timevenue.com/), there's some nightclubs in Newbridge itself and pubs, they're good fun too.

Well I used to live just outside Newbridge but spent most of my time there growing up, secondary school etc... didn't dislike it I suppose when I was there but wasn't mad about it either, but compared to where I lived it was a metropolis. I remember when there was NOTHING on the leftside of the street coming in from the Curragh, its buzzing now. It's lost a bit of its 'charm' though, it used to be a very social place but being back there recently it seems to be taken over with blow ins..no probs there but it seems a bit more anonymous. They also got rid of the Art Centre which was excellent and showed plays and exhibitions etc and was a great place for the youngins to have something to do, I have great memories of that place..now its just used as a coffee shop or something..it is however now I look at it from my 4 years living in Dublin not a bad place at all, ..I wouldn;t mind at all moving back as its really close to the city and its only 35 mins on the train. Does depend where you're living though.. I dislike the Dunnes end of the town ;)

I live in Newbridge and wouldn't live anywhere else, Like most are saying, the night life is good, people are generally decent, i never had a run in with anyone.

Swifts, coffeys are nice pubs, would then head over to time for the club, the women are great there, come from all over.

Sure ya ever need to settle in, jus PM me and i'll sort out few drinks with me mates and that.

    Hi
Thanks for all who replied. Idea to spend a week there to see first. Are there places I should avoid go and see etc. The idea of tradeing up and makeing the move is a bit daunting . Who best to talk to on the property market?
    Have a nice weekend Y all :confused:l

Ps Why should I stay far away?

Nice distance from Dublin and as already stated the shopping and nightlife is quite good also
