What part of the north? It would be quite different going to Derry as going to Belfast... also I don't know anything about busses... but those who do will want to know where you are going...

Anywhere with a music shop and close to the border is the answer to that...

I assume you are going by car as the buses wont get you there and back on the same day. http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1202290296-64.pdf

Enniskillen is probably your best bet (going through sligo, manorhamilton would take about 2 1/2 hours. the Road from sligo to enniskillen isnt great but it is a beautiful drive through Glencar valley)

Not sure what music shops they have though. Oh and Enniskillen is really busy all the time now with the southern shoppers.

The fastest way is to rent one yourself and get driven by a bus driver. Failing that only BusEireann goes north, Enniskillen is 4h, Derry 5h, Belfast 6h. Prices start from €35 return.
    or go via dublin http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055387942

oh yeah and no going back the same day..

    Fastest, yes.
Cheapest, I very much doubt in when you factor in both mileage and petrol.

Yup, that looks like it will work. Except the bus route is now called 64 not 65 (just so you don't get confused).

Bus Eireann's journey planner (http://www.buseireann.ie/#) is a great tool, IMHO.

I dunno, it likes to bring you around the country to get to your destination. Does anyone know do I've to pay extra to transfer bus as the bus goes Galway -> Sligo then Sligo -> Enniskillen

CityLink were running a €20 single service to Belfast (IIRC) around Christmas, leaving some time after 7am daily. Don't see anything on their site about it now but only had a quick look. Not sure if it's still running.

    Just saw a poster earlier
"The Borderbus" going to Enniskillen for €25

    Shopping Trip
    Saturday April 4th
Depart Athenry 7am, Galway cathedral 7.30am. arrive 11am
    Arriving back in Galway 7.30pm

offers baggage storage on the bus during the day as you traipse around the shops

Very enterprising venture i think, only contact details was a phone number
If anyone wants it, PM me & I'll forward it on

Heard about this guy too. He was looking into hiring a van to increase his baggage capacity. Good luck to him, at that price it's great value.

    Hey,
I went up to Ikea for the day for €48 return.

    Take an airport direct bus

    http://www.gobus.ie/timetables.php

    Then this one to Belfast.
    http://www.aircoach.ie/table.routes.belfast.php

No Dublin city, just over 5 hrs total & very comfortable.
