Is there the slightest basis for Fionnan Sheehan's report at this time? I know Blair was tipped for this job in the past but I don't think anything has happened recently to make him a more likely candidate.

At a time of unprecedented political and economic turmoil, why would the Indo print this dross?

His prospects were largely discounted well ahead of the first referendum vote. As to why the Indo would print it - no idea. Did they mix up 2009 and 2008? Or the UK and Irish Labour parties?

    mystified,
