Beautiful day for running last Sunday. I decided to do some of the Royal Canal between Kilcock and Enfield. WP_20131208_001.jpg

PS can anyone tell me how to put actual picture in the message rather than having to click?

Back home in Borrisoleigh, Tipperary for the Christmas. I went for a run with the brother and his wife and brought my iPod Touch to take a few pictures. The quality of the pictures isn't amazing but not bad either.

First stop was a fourteen century old monastery and graveyard

Plenty of sheep in the hills round Borris, here's a small selection of them

and a picture that pretty much sums up the countryside round my place

Looking at Tonelagee. There's a lovely trail route going from Glendalough car park, along Wicklow Way before turning for Scarr.

I love this view. Any chance you can share the location from where it is taken ? I believe it's on the Wicklow Way somewhere after roundwood ?

It's on the Wicklow Way heading towards Roundwood from Glendalough. It's about 3km from the first car park at Glendalough. Leave the car park the same way you came in, hang a left and you should see a Wicklow Way marker on your right. Follow that for about 2 or 3km and you'll come to the spot. Lovely trail, it's all through the woods, makes for a very nice and easy walk.

Just under the "h" of Glendalough on this map. http://www.wicklowway.com/trail-maps/roundwood-glendalough.php

Dublin is not the only European city with a great park for running. Found this one in Vienna and joined the Wieners for an afternoon jog on the long straight 4.3 km path up the middle. With a variety of surfaces, no cars and road markings every 100m it would be ideal for intervals too. Maybe next time.
