Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I said I'd put this up as I want to chat about how Blackburn are going to put an end to Villa's run away from home.

We are unbeaten, we lost Brett Emerton for the season to add to Stephen Reid but everybody else is fit, and I expect to see El Hadj Diouf make his first start for us.

Villa have been scraping late wins (like potential Champions!) but can't do that forever. Blackburn Wanderers are looking more gritty and Diouf could well unlock Villas defence. A draw seems most likely.

Chelsea bring in Hilario to replace the injured Petr Cech, while Ricardo Quaresma is thrown straight in for his debut. Hull make just one change from the side that drew with West Brom, with Geovanni replacing the suspended Bernard Mendy.

    Line-ups:
Chelsea: Hilario, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry, Ashley Cole, Mikel, Quaresma, Ballack, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka. Subs: Taylor, Ivanovic, Di Santo, Drogba, Deco, Belletti, Stoch.

Hull: Duke, Ricketts, Turner, Zayatte, Dawson, Garcia, Ashbee, Marney, Kilbane, Geovanni, Fagan. Subs: Myhill, Doyle, Barmby, Hughes, France, Halmosi, Manucho

I'm surprised with the lineup, I thought RSC and Diouf would start today, Roberts played 120 minutes against Sunderland midweek so didn't expect him to start today even though he is in great form. And it looks to me like Dunn is gonna play on the right, or maybe Andrews have been given a man marking job on Young. Anyways Big Sam knows best. Givet was also in contention for his first start. We have a really strong bench there today.

Blackburn: Robinson, Ooijer, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock, Pedersen, Grella, Andrews, Dunn, McCarthy, Roberts.
Subs: Bunn, Tugay, Santa Cruz, Khizanishvili, Diouf, Villanueva, Givet.

Jo dives to win a peno for Everton apparently

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Well at half time Villa are deservedly 1-0 up after having 2 argueably a-ok goals disallowed and half way towards a record 7 away wins on the bounce

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,792 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Villa have had 2 goals disallowed and several good chances.
1 offside, and the other for a push or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Apparently Sunderland had a goal saved off the line with the hands of an outfield player but the ref missed it so no red card or Peno!!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Atleast one of thos Villa goals should have stood. Nice goal from Milner, poor marking from Blackburn though.

Terry's miss for Chelsea was funny!

Jesus christ ! that was some miss from JT. Anyone else witness it ?

Well Gabby was offside. Just about.
I'm not sure what the other goal was disallowed for.
When keepers go down like that I think the referee gives them the benefit of the doubt.

yeah it was the first one (pushing i guess) that for me should have stood although as you say the 2nd a goalie goes down its usually a free even though as far as i could see no Villa player did anything wrong.

double switch for Blackburn Tudguy and Diouf on
Cuellar off Gardner on at RB for Villa too

christ almighty I despise Lou Macari

banging on about how Chelsea need some more firepower up top,
The he starts ****ing on about how some ex-chelsea strikers were on the pitch for some presentation, and some fans were chanting quite humorously "bring them on"

So he says "which is ridiculous because (insert name here didn't recognise it) is 67 and surely he's not going to be better than Anelka"

Jesus the man is an idiot, he seemed to honestly believe chelsea fans really wanted that change to happen.

can see why the special one doesnt like the outside of the boot. Didnt know he did it that frequently!

    Fagan should have scored there

    Jo scores for Everton.

Moyes really is a cracking manager.

Great break there from Hull ends with Fagan missing a sitter. Oh my, hard to see where a Chelsea breakthrough is coming from. Hull have been great - with Kilbahne sticking in a very solid shift.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Chelsea unlucky not to get a Peno.

    Carew on for Heskey

How are they not 4-0 up ? Blackburn should have gotten 2 penalties and then for other challenges around the park. Either the referee has lost his whistle or he desperately needs to check into specsavers first thing in the morning
