Yeah, a big fan of Scott Lynch's 'Gentlemen Bastards' series. 'Red Sea Under Red Skies' wasn't as good as the first instalment, but it was a still a great read - he really has an excellent handy on witty dialogue.

I've read the first instalment of Abercrombie's series and have the second waiting for me on the shelf. I hear that it gets better with each book, which is good because the first instalment was decent but hardly outstanding.

I'm a huge fan of Joe Ambercrombie's First Law Series ( The Blade Itself , Before They Are Hanged & Last Arguement Of The Kings )

    Brilliantly written books

On the 2nd book of Alastair Reynold's Space Opera Series now ( Redemption Ark ) and it too is a great read

I was disappointed with Red Skies - Lies set the standard very high and the 2nd book just wasn't up to it. Hope it rebounds with the next one.

It wasn't as good all right but I still enjoyed it. I think he could have curbed the "seas" part of the instalment and there'd have been more fun having them as land-lubbers. I was never a major fan of the nautical elements of fantasy. Still greatly looking forward to the third instalment.

Got recommended this by Amazon and I'd never heard of it before, think I'll look into once I finish rereading the Malazan series.
