Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    That's nice. Probably pointless though, Amazon don't deliver electronics to Ireland.

    Hm have heard that the 170-500 is soft past 350mm and what i shoot, wildlife, lots of things would be at the long end! The bigma seems to be sharper or what i would do is save the pennies and buy a prime!

    Right......Didn't know Amazon has no delivery to ireland. Thank you for that info charybdis.

    landyman can you recommend where l might pick a 'prime' up in the city, which i'v never heard of before....:)

    Linda, I would look more at the 50-500mm Sigma (which coincidentally I own). I'd say soft at around 450 rather than 350. I think Conns are selling them off comparatively cheaply at the moment.

    By prime, he means fixed focal length and trust me for a telephoto prime, them's a lot of pennies.

    If you want to try my Sigma, let me know and we'll try to hook up next weekend,.

    I mean like your nifty fifty - you cant adjust the focal lenght. For example a second hand minolta 600mm f4 would cost you a cool 3 grand..... Thats 300,000 pennies btw : p

    @calina - i was talking about the cheaper 170-500 not the 50-500.
