    Gave it a good lash,
Left nothing in the locker room
the young fella that bet him looks like he could have something to him
Good head on him, bit of craft and a decent chin!

great night of boxing - crackin advert for the sport. The Sutcliffe v Joyce fight was the highlight of the night.

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/boxing/2009/0221/nationalseniorchampionships.html

"Big Tipperary heavyweight Con Sheehan showed the heart of a true champion to retain his 91Kg crown in the face of a furious first-round onslaught from Alan Reynolds, a seven-time Irish senior champion.

The Sligo man, returning to the ring this year after a three-year break from the sport, started at a furious pace but Sheehan matched fire with fire to share the first round 3-3.

The combatants were also tied at the end of the second, but Sheehan produced a composed display in the final round to win his second consecutive Irish belt."

Another good fight by Reynolds, apparently.

Alan Reynolds, a five time Irish senior champion in the past, beat Drimnagh heavyweight Jimmy Sweeney and Tommy Sheehan record the St Michael's Athy clubs third win of the night at the expense of Gareth Smith.

Another young lad who did well at the end of January was John Tighe, from Ballymote, who won the "Special Youth Open Competition" at the 81kg weight, on 31 January.

Not a bad fight last night (coming from someone who's not into boxing), pity Reynolds didn't win, but he was outclassed over the 3 rounds by defending champion, Sheehan (10-3 was final points score).
