I was given permission to give that to genuine people who wanted to know. Thats why i sent it in PMs. Because it wasnt meant for publication yet til i had the scans ready. Thats just pure ignorant posting a PM.

Still waiting here, or do you think I'm not a genuine person...

Not exactly what I would call accounts, but if even half true does show yet again what full time taxi drivers have to compete with

But if true, which it may not be, does it not show that there is plenty of work out there? I'd be surprised if 10 hours a week could make that but if so I'd consider it too. :)

My mate works more than 10 hours a week (it varies for him). I said that in the PM but what was posted is cherry picked, not just ignorant of the fact its a PM.

I didnt say he write down all his petrol either. More cherry picking.

I was actually scanning the accounts and blacking out the name, address etc before that PM got posted. I was just trying to help the guy out by giving him my quick breakdown of the figures before id finished scanning.

Ive researched this and continue to do so and am fully convinced that there is more money to be made from Taxiing than the drivers make out. Its in their interests to keep others out of the business. Sure they've been talking it down for many, many, years. If you want to do it then do your own research. No point taking to taxi drivers, thats for sure.

I might post those scans in Work and Jobs when im finished, but not here.

Absolutely no point at all because you don't believe me when I say just get out there and do it and you don't believe the ones who say it's completely fvcked, so if you're not going to listen to either side why bother asking?

BTW still waiting on my PM, feeling most disheartened now that you obviosly don't believe that I'm genuine...not that I'm gonna lose much sleep over it ( if any! )

this what i got by PM, pure BS imo

    Total yearly income - €17000+
    Insurance - €1200
Petrol - Can write almost all of his petrol (and most of his personal use petrol too ) during
the year off the tax so huge saving here too.

Expenses get written off. Cleaning car, Petrol, Tax, Mechanics etc.
Actually ita amazing what he can write off to tax (accountant will sort this for you if you need).

Anyway he ends up paying tax at 41% (thats his rate anyway, it will be 20% if you are already in the lower tax bracket) on just under €8000. so about €3500 tax.

So at the end of the day, after pocketing extra expenses etc he ends up with about €12000
in his pocket. This pays his mortgage.
how many hours a week does your friend work to earn his 17k+
surely you asked him that ?
    right so
heres my estimate of his paye sector working week
travel to and from work = lets say 3 hours
    working day = 8 hours
rest for dinner ect = 2 hours
that leaves him 11 hours to sleep ,wash, etc
total hours in his week just to keep his paye job going
    64 hours
then we have his other taxi driving job
right so he has his weekend to earn his 17k+
sat and sun he has 48 hours
    lets take outta that
    10 hours for sleep
    5 hours for meals
    5 hours for rest
now we have 23 hours left for him to earn his [lets round this off at because the op said 17k+ ]say €400
thats him doing this 7 days a week 50 weeks a year
not taking into account ,birthdays ,weddings ,blah ,blah
not withstanding the fact that this driver would be a total wreck after two months and a danger to himself as well as his passengers .can anyone honestly believe the horsesh1t

    QUOTE]

    more BS BS
look clearly at the line where you say that most of his personal use is wrote off.............

i would never post a personal PM< but this takes the biscuit

Ive looked at my friends accounts for the year and they look good to me.

Obviously i cant post his private accounts but he will allow me to post the numbers.

    Total yearly income - €17000+
    Insurance - €1200
Petrol - Can write almost all of his petrol (and most of his personal use petrol too ) during

So at the end of the day, after pocketing extra expenses etc he ends up with about €12000
in his pocket. This pays his mortgage.

Hes told me the following is what he does.

All startup costs were paid back in the first year.
You can buy a car + plate + meter etc ready to go if you want.
You need to get insurance, psv license etc
90% of the time he picks up a fare on the way home from work.
Average would be a tenner right up to trips to the airport.
Sometimes they take him out of his way, and sometimes are on his way home anyway.
So he ends up working 1 to 4 hours on the way home as he picks up anyone that
hails him, until he makes it al the way home without a fare.
He goes out weekends when he feels like it and works longer when its raining (more fares).
He does not work at night.
He never goes to the ranks.

This year his friend has decided to rent the taxi off him at night, so more money there.
Hes also trying to get someone to rent it off hi during the day and drop it back to him at 5pm.
Dont know if he'll get that though.

But at the end of the day, with a minimum amout of hassle he pays his mortgage + holiday etc.
Im going to do this myself for definite.
