Its a sign of a change in the weather.

The bigger the ring, the nearer the change.

Ice particles in the upper atmosphere: http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/moonring/

Front approaching from the west, high clouds moving in, meeting cold air and could mean snow for some of us ;).

Astronomy/Space forum would've been the right place.

Looks perfectly normal to me,no ring whatsoever.

There is a very faint ring - you have to use your peripheral vision to see it.

Just had another look and it is gone now. As I said above it was incredible and it really dominated the sky.
    P.S. Based in Donegal.

Yes i seen it , I heard before that it was a sign of bad weather or a storm and it usually was true.

Very wide ring around moon here currently.

Saw it in Skerries last night about 11ish. They're fairly common. think this is the right place for it. It's not an astronomical phenomina, just a meteorological one.
