First off, for anyone who has been after a Track IR device. Before you purchase the unit, have a look at this website.

    http://www.free-track.net/

This site has instructions on how to make a similar device. It cost me less than 15 euro to make mine, and it works flawlessly. You just need some IR LED's, a few resistors, wire and a way to power it (I used an old usb cable).

The only expensive part would be the webcam or wiimote+bluetooth pc input. But even if you have to purchase them it is still a whole lot cheaper. Plus its fun to make your own stuff.

Secondly, has anyone made one of these?

    http://ptyxiouxos.net//greekbotics/user_projects/Flight_Simulator/thanos_home_motion_flight_simulator.htm

Its a homemade motorised motion simulator, made with pvc pipe and car windscreen wiper moters. This is going to be a summer project for me, my only concern is the printed circuit board as I have absolutely no experience with that sort of thing. But I'm sure it will be easy once I start on it.

Anyone got any more projects? Like rudder pedals maybe?

Hmmm OK, how about this then? This guy has set up a wiimote pointing at his screen. He is wearing a glove with an IR led, which lights up when he presses on his monitor. Works pretty well with the fully clickable cockpits of the DCS franchise.

Video of it being used in Black Shark.
