8 way Diseqc Switch

I want to switch between 5 lnbs on a T90 dish using a Dreambox 500s.
Can I use an 8 way switch or do I need to use two 4 way switches ?

You could use one of these

But not many receivers support 8 way switch.

Safer is a switch which emulates motor control for 8 LNBs

This "looks" like a motor to the receiver. You define 8 GotoX positions. Works for receivers with upto 4-way switch only, but Motorised option



The 3rd method is to use two cascaded switches. It's not so reliable and not well supported. Not all 4-way switches work properly in cascade mode even if the user interface exists on Sat receiver to define LNB settings.

Many sell these, I've bought direct (but not the GotoX switch, mostly 17in/16out multiswitches) and many German sites sell similar products.

Do you know if the Dreambox 500s supports an 8 way switch ,I have read that Enigma 2 receivers have had issues but I'm unsure of Enigma 1 ?

As I say very few receivers support it, and ones that do, it often is unreliable.

No idea on Dreambox. May depend on firmware.

The 2nd options (GotoX) should work on it if it supports USALS or GOTOx

I've never tested an 8way. But if the Deambox has 8 positions on an LNB/satellite Diseqc 1.2 menu it should work.

HMsat is often recommended here. What ever you do is your own risk.

I set up a dreambox 500 with a 8way switch a few weeks ago.
I was at it for the day to get right.
I will post how to do it later.(have no time now)

Have cascading switches ie. 4 way diseqc switch off each lnb - leading to an eight way switch -> leading ultimately to dreambox.
One is committed and one is not (i can't remember which is which). The 8 way switch you can get cheap on fleabay.

When setting up your box, select diseqc - then go for the last option - non standard/user defined setup. There will be a list of sats - just need to delete them all ..leaving just the number of sats you need to configure for. Then press the blue button - select diseqc 1.1 and the relevant input etc.

Looking at my own receiver menu (TM6900), it has an option for DiSEqC 1.1 which gives options 1-16. I'd assume this is suitable for an 8x switch?

I'm contemplating a T90 myself, as motorised isn't working out too well (and quite noisy/slow).
