Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Scolari Sacked

It's getting ridiculous over at Chelsea...Avram Grant didn't get a full season, Scolari doesn't get a full season.

Surely a manager needs a couple of years to put his stamp on the team, get the players that fit his system??

Rumours were abound for months though that he had lost the dressing room. Too much player power at that club it seems.

The real shame of this is that it could destabilise Villa who are having a storming season...

Manchini would be terrible! How is he so far up?

As a Chelsea fan, shocked. Don't really know what to think of it. I'd been getting more and more frustrated over the last few months with our play under Scolari, but I figured he'd just need time to adjust. AS has been said, this seems a bit of a farce.

Anyway, what's done is done, may as well look forward to what's to come.

Scolari had charisma and flair (kinda), but I think what we need right now is someone with proven success at the top of the club game, and someone who'll be a strong disciplinarian.

I don't care if we play the ugliest football in the world for the next year or so, we need stability and a shot at salvaging the season.

    Rijkaard with Ten Cate :)

That would really make Deco smile wouldn't it.

How about Glenn Hoddle, maybe even Ian Porterfield :)

I dont see odds for hium but you gotta look at David Moyes. A genius in the transfer market with little or no money will suit exactly what roman wants. Watch him simple as. If chelsea come knocking he wont turn it down could be his only chance at a very big job. Surprised he's not bein mentioned and zola is. Considering zola is unproven

    GODAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why now? I had a 26/1 bet on Phil being the next Prem manager to get the boot, a bet blown by Tony Adams last night!

Sure Zola was on the verge of getting sacked himself till west hams recent run of form. Can't picture him getting it. Although Grant got it before!

    boards.ie should be changed from

    boards.ie - "now ye're talkin"

    to

boards.ie - "first for breaking news"

was on this site before Sky Sports and BBC dont have it up yet

Because people are watching SSN in fairness.

Joke club, fickle as you like.

I seem to remember Avram Grant saying he would never go back to Chelsea when he was a pundit on Setanta once.

He should be welcomed back with open arms by the fans however if he happens to get the job again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,524 ✭✭✭joe123

A manager needs at least two years to put his stamp on a team. This is a disgrace to be honest.

Thank god Liverpool arent rash with sacking managers.

    Steve Clarke for the job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

He had to go. Trying to build a team around the 31 year old Deco was a big mistake.

Rijkaard would be excellent for Chelsea.

Avram Grant is favourite to take the Portsmouth job funnily enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

Frank Rijkaard might be a good bet....

Did well at Barca.... could do the same at Chelsea.

what you mean thank god. i'd trade our champs league in 05 for both their premierships. Maybe we need a bit of rash like them.

I wonder will they try to get Martin O'Neill. I'd say O Neill is loyal to Villa. They'll have to break the bank to prise Mourinho away from inter. Zola is a good outside bet. My money would be on Hiddink to get the job.

Ha, when texting my mate yesterday, I asked him "So who will ye get to replace Scolari?" Didn't expect him to be sacked about 16 hours later.

I think they Chelsea were starting to fall apart. It had to happen to save the season. There was a bit of Ramos to it. i.e. no connection between the manager and the dressing room. 1st priority is to get someone who speaks English well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

    Guus Hiddink I'd say

Seriously What the **** are you on??? Do you remember the squad benitez had where he won that champs league!? Any manager that can get Djimi Tarore to win a champions league medal deserves credit.

And theres the small matter of Romans millions compared to sweet **** all at Liverpool.

Benitez has done an amazing job.

As a Gooner... Id love to see O Neill go to Chelsea ;)

Hiddink has to be the obvious choice as theres nobody else available at the moment, apart from Avram Grant, but that would never happen would it?? If its true that Scolari lost the dressing room months ago i dont think it would be such a bad idea to bring Grant back, he definately won the Chelsea players around last season, a mighty hard thing to do considering he was filling "The Specail Ones" boots!

Imagine if Roman approached Grant now, Id be getting the man do lick my boots.:p

No, thats like asking will Fergie take it. If Wenger works anywhere again it won't be in England.

You are a rarity among fans so, because most fans say league first and then Europe.
Remember Del Bosque won the CL and got the sack at Real. Shows you how much they care about it.

Really the PL is numero uno.
