You should be able to get a P46 form to complete from the PSNI in which case you'll go on the basic rate of tax untill they've got your proper tax code sorted out.

I doubt I'll have my P45 on time either as I only finish work a few days before our training start date, so I'll have to get a P46 as well...

i'm sure i've read it somewhere but can't remember - what colour is the april intake, you know the way they talk about green teams etc? are we red?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 171 ✭✭Ali08

I heard the squad was gonna be red for the Apriliers.
Anyway, how are you folks gettin on with the huge shopping list?? I got some things for Penis Eye this week, gonna gradually build up the resources. Somebody somewhere said there are plenty of ironing boards down there, so Im not getting him one.

Oh and do any of yous know is the dress code for the guests at the SID as formal as for the real people goin in?

That's good about the ironing boards, really didn't want to cart one of those in! lol.
I'm doing ok with my shopping, got my smart clothes sorted and a new duvet, duvet cover, pillows and also my sevlyt clothes but so far that's it! Just going to be picking bits and pieces up along the way.
Nosying on Argos today and they have a couple of good irons half price so I think that's next on my agenda!

I never really thought about the guests at the induction, I just had it in my head that my mum and dad would be smartly dressed as they would be coming from work! :D

Its gone very quiet from the reds. I suppose everyone is too busy running and shopping for bed sheets to be posting...

How about this one; Does anyone have any idea what they would like to specialise in after their 2 years probation (if anything)? For example are you interested in climbing the greasy pole in terms of promotion? Or maybe you want to join CID? Or maybe you want to wait and see? Out of interest has anyone applied for HPD? (Holy c**p that all rhymes! Sort of)

Maybe I'm being really simple but what's HPD? lol.

high potential development scheme. think there is somethin about it on either the www.psni.police.uk/index.htm website or the recruitment one www.joinpsni.co.uk

not sure where but im sure ull find it in between all that hard work ur doin at the moment! lol:D

Im a poet and I never knew...TSG is what I want to do I think. Of course that could all change once we actually start. I heard on the news that CID were badly short staffed due to a load of them retiring at once so there could be plenty of openings there.

I wish I had hard work to do weirdly enough! Since I told them I was leaving they seem to have forgotten I work here and I get minimal work passed to me lol! You'd think I'd be estatic about this but when you are trying to work 8am - 5pm to build flexi so you can have your last week off it tends to drag! lol.

I ticked the box for that HPD when applying and would still be interested. At the minute I'm thinking I would love to get into dog handling after 2 years, but then there aren't many places and who knows what I'll like or be good at during training, so many options!

Got most shopping done I think, just a few wee bits and pieces left, still sooooo excited but also quite nervous!

yeh i ticked the box for HPD. I want to go into the special response dept.

HPD is for exceptionally high scorers. You can still apply for specialist posts without having selected it. I heard that even if you didnt select HPD on your application that they will contact you if your score is good enough.

Yea as far as im aware HPD is set against the national competencies required to become an inspector. You have to sit exams etc and there is a pass mark i.e. if no one passes no one gets onto HPD. HPD has nothing to do with specialising, its aimed at those who want jobs in the upper echilons of the force (inspector and above).

To be honest it does not really interest me, coming out of one office job and trying to race my way to another one (all be it one in a psni uniform).

The front line is where the action is at!:D

I totally agree CPN, sick off 9-5 office job. I want to be out and about, frontline policing etc...I don't want to run staright back in to an office job again staright away...

I did mate yes. I guess Integra had a good reason not to start in April, May and er...June, but they didn't give me such a luxury. It was May or nothing, and no more deferrals allowed!

How's the prep going for April?

i havnt been out running in bout week and half ,,, i was talkn 2 a girl that passed out of garnerville 2 weeks ago and she told me about the traing ,,,, its not that hard at all and they look for how much improvment u make when your there so you dont want to be at your best in the first couple weeks lol weight training is going well thou,, what bout yourself ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 524 ✭✭✭Penis Eye

my isnt goin too bad either! same as you i havent been runnin for a couple days bar a 10 min warm up before doin weights! ive noticed a definate improvement in my routine and increased most areas by 5-10 kgs! im only really workin on chest shoulders back abis and tris so its not to bad!

i hope to god thats a mistake you wrote previously cause that puts me to shame somethin shockin!

    BanTownCop wrote: »
the best thig to do for push pull test is benchpress ,,, only do wot u feel safe with ,, im benchn about 500 reps at 105 kg but ive been doin that for over couple years so start at wot u can do.

its hard for us bigger guys running , im 6ft5 and 14 stone so its hard on our legs so id say the smaller ones have an advantage on us in the running ,,, but reli i dont think the fitness will be anything tough its just a basic level so we shud all pass

about 60 miles but im staying with a mate from belfast on sunday night! been trying to stay away from the createin stuff just cause i want to do it myself if you know what i mean! i dont want to be built like a tank but i want to be able to hold my own! dont think there is anythin wrong with it mind you i just feel its not for me!

then for the start day on sunday 2 weeks time it'll be ok to drive as the rush hour wont be too bad!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 56 ✭✭bet0409

Am liking these posts, I heard from someone else in my gym last night that you are better not to go in with all guns blazing (so to speak) in the first fitness assessment, as they want to know how much you improve in your 1st/2nd week to your final assessment at the end of 20/21 weeks. So even if I miraculously have the ability to run 3 miles in 25 mins, I'll start off aiming for 3 miles in 30 mins then I will def be able to improve on that!

Flip you boys are strong, I'm lucky if I can do 3 sets of 10 reps (with wee breaks in between) of 36kg on the chest press thing! Although that has gone up a good bit since I started doing weights a few months ago. But then I'm a weakling of a girl, should be stronger as I am not petite! if we just have to average 27kg then I should be ok, right??? Assurance needed haha!!
