Just a splinter thread from the IASRA one, did you find airsoft through boards, seems lots of people, myself included did, so just a poll to find out how many did.

I knew about airsoft since about 2001, but didn't realise it was legalised here until about September 2006. Boards made me aware of this and I signed up to start posting. The rest is history as they say...

Stumbled upon that aswell before the law changed having followed a link from Irishpaintball.ie, i quickly gave up the idea on getting into paintball as a result

Well, my story will obviously be a bit different.

I originally discovered airsoft ( as a sport I could play locally ) back in March 2004. A couple of friends and I discovered one of the UK airsoft forums, I think it was the now defunct UKAN which was later absorbed by ASCUK. After much reading there and on Arnies, we then got in PM contact with a player in NI. He talked us into going to a rental shoot at SG-1.
15th May 2004 is when I popped my airsoft cherry. And I should have used protection, because 9 months later ASI was born.

There were only 2 skirmish sites in NI back then and Predator wasn't even around yet.
After that 1st game as a rental, I immediately went home and started researching my purchases.

As for Boards though, I also remember when it was just a single thread in the shooting forum.

Somebody must be doing something right here though, I try to drop in on a daily basis.
