Having spent the last week and a bit using my new Merkur Futur, I'm
curious as to what DE blades people are using and which blades people
    rate.

Rather than restricing ourselves to the existing thread, I hope this thread
will prove useful to others as well as myself.

I have ordered pretty much every blade Shavingshack and Connaught stock as well as the Wilkinsons available in Boots.

So far I've tried the Wilkinson (good for up to 2 shaves but blunts quickly), Derb Extra which I found good

Whilst I know this is subjective, I'd appreciate what your go to blade is.

What DE blades are your favourites? 25 votes

Glad to see the Crystal Platinum Plus getting a look in, nice feedback, great price. If you have neck problems, try them.

Considering you've included a zillion brands, it's impressive mine isn't there.

I've only tried WKS, Derby, Merkur and one other one whose name I can't remember.

WKS blunted easily and wasn't an enjoyable shave in general.
    Didn't like An Other either.

Derby and Merkur were both great. I'm leaning towards Merkur though I'm not sure why, it's just the "feel" it has.

    Merkur Super Platinum
Having tried 10 or so brands, I've settled on the Feather - just the thing for a tough beard like mine.

[sniff] :( No one bothered to ask ChocolateSauce what brand he uses..

What brand do you use, ChocolateSauce?

Uugh, I'm done with the Feather, too much blood for the shave that's in it. I can get the same shave with a Merkur and only the slightest nick or two.

Tribulus, give it a while, maybe try a Feather again in a bit. I started with Feathers, but I also started DE shaving by using the same pressure that I used holding a plastic disposable. Nicks, blood, speckles, use of Alum block, the works..

A month later and I can get by without any need for the Alum block or any blood prevention duties. The main change being pressure and the use of a decent shaving cream\brush.

I voted for the Crystal IP's, but my face lights up with the latest batch I purchased. Rash like redness. Bah humbug.

I've tried using the Feather blades for several days and firstly I have to
say WOW, what a close shave!

This might sound like I'm contradicting myself but even though it's the
closest shave I've ever thought possible it is at a price. I found it too
close a shave and left my skin feeling raw.

I switched back to the IP Personna/Crystals last night and whilst not as
close a shave it still surpasses any shave with a cartridge system. I'll be
ordering 100 of the Crystals now as I find them the best for me (YMMMV) -
I've sensitive skin but heavy beard growth. I can get a perfectly close
shave with no cuts, weepers or razor rash.

I also have some of the red label Personna blades on the way so am
interested to see how they compare. I'm also waiting for a Merkur HD
as I'm interested to see how the non-adjustable Merkurs compare
    to the Progress and Futur.

Right now if I had to pick one blade and razor combination for me it'd
    be the Progress and Personna.

Amalgam, I hope that was a bad batch/blade you got and not a change
    in the general quality.

It could be a blade coating or something not agreeing with me, it could be anything to be honest, I was using Speick shaving cream at the time, a gorgeous spiced smell, but.. I found the lather a bit 'thin' compared to Palmolive and the Proraso, both seemingly doing a more active role in keeping my skin in one piece.

I'll venture back to the Personna in a bit, finish off a pack of Wilkinson first.

I couldn't possibly vote yet, as I still only have a toe in the water. I like the Derbys. Very sharp. I started off on Treets, and wasn't too sure about them. I've gone back to them now, and it's working well. Me and Merkur didn't see eye to eye. I'll chance one again in a while.
    Personna I really liked.

I need to pick up some more.

Not long into this but so far:

Dont rate Treets, Wilkinson Swords, Merkurs. Surprisingly dissapointed with Feathers and Derbys, found them very aggresive with the same closeness as an IP, but the IP's dont cut me. Therefore IP's are the real deal for me so far! Really interested in trying the Red IP's next
