Ok, I think I might be able to swing 'permission' from the boss to get one of these :o
Just wondering if there are any pictures of one where it looks fairly tiday especially the wiring!
Also, could somebody tell me the distance from the pole to the most forward part of the dish i.e. total depth.

    Thanks!

It is about 80 cm. And wiring depends of your desired number of LNBs.

On toroidal reception in Dublin could I ask a specific question. I am receiving 39e 28e 23.5e 19e 16e 13e 4e 1w. On 1W I cannot receive many of the main channels especially those on 11278V such as Canal+ Emotion,Canal +First, Canal+hits ect. I am using an Inverto Twin 40mm LNB IDLB-TWNL40-PREMU-OPP. I have tested with other lnbs results the same or worse. It is basically the channels on the T1 footprint as per this _http://www.telenorsbc.com/templates/Page.aspx?id=735 Are others able to fine tune channels on the T1 footprint in Dublin North Leinster?

    mate,

where in Dublin are you based ?
What kind of receiver are you using ?

I took down my motorised dish because it was too noisy at night.
I now have a single sky dish and a twin bracket at the end of my 1m dish, fed into a 4/1 diseqc switch because I could not get an 8/1 to work with my Dm500HD (genuine)

I want to move to one of these dishs but not sure if it will work with my DM because of the disecq issue :(

what sat are you using as the prime focus for the dish ?

sorry for all the questions just trying to get some research done before I commit (and explain the expense to the war office :) )

    cheers

    mrBogus :eek::eek::eek: ha ha ha

anyways, dont know if it makes any difference but when I had my motorised dish, I could get pretty much every transponder on 1w so I dont see why you should have an issue with your toroidal dish.
The only thing that "might" be causing an issue is having the dish centered on 19e.Maybe if it was centered on something like 5e you might get a better pic.

Dont know if youve seen this site before but maybe it might be of use

    oops
@MrTrebus, terribly sorry, the chap is from another forum, was a little under the influence, sorry. I think I might sacrifice 39e and recentre to see if 1w would get a better strength. thanks for the thought. Regards

Sorry to drag up an oldish thread..Maybe looking at getting this dish and wondering what peoples experiences are recently? Im based in Dublin and was thinking of a motorised dish but the Wavefrontier Toroidal looks tempting!!!

I wouldnt have a clue installing this myself and any help appreciated on where to buy all of the items(maybe newer info over the last year) and who to set it up for me guys??

    Ronan

Do a search around here on "wavefrontier" and you'll find some great threads. I got one myself. Wasn't too bad to install, but it does have its challenges.
Its big!, but when its all setup and up on the pole, it really doesn't look like the monster it is :)

Here are a few threads (one I started myself) with plenty of info in them

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=76805918
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056562645

Like others I bought all my stuff from hm-sat-de. I used this site, to calculate the setup http://www.satlex.us/en/wavefrontier_calc.html

My lnb's go from 28E to 5w, (with others in between)
But I centered mine on 13" and then using the calculator was able to work out where the lnbs go on the rail. Once you have the correct skew and lnbs in their positions they all come in without too much effort.

Centre the T90 on 1W...better signal across the range !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,576 ✭✭✭excollier

Centering depends entirely on which sats you want to receive reliably. No good centering on 1w if you want 39e in your line up.

I suppose the first thing to do is pick out the list of sats you want to get. I've about 9 on mine 28,19,16,13.....
Or perhaps pick out what cards/subscriptions you are going to want, then you can pick out which sats you need.
Once you have that list, you can then work out how to configure the dish.

Took a few pics of my T-90, its work in progress so excuse the messy coax, all will be tidied up when completed.

The 60mm pole mounting is a mystery since as mentioned 50mm is a standard size but a little bit of welding sorted that.

I like this antenna and wish I had got it a long time ago, this satellite lark is evolution for me, nothing stands still, more pics to follow. picture.php?albumid=477&pictureid=2485

It's now 6 years later god the T-90 looks like pants.

    Here's an updated view.

All mounted on the same pole that I got powder coated. :-)
