While idling at work I was thinking that there should be a Cork celebration day i.e. a day to celebrate being from Cork, celebrate all things Cork, music, food, identity etc.

My question is what date of the year should it be on. Some suggestions include the day cork gots its charter as a city or the day Roy Keane left Saipan.

    All suggestions looked forward too!

The American population of Cork may have something to say about that...

Independance day vs Cork day....hmm could be interesting actually :)

As long as we keep the slow talkers out. I've been told that people from Cork tend to talk quickly and lately I've been noticing that blow-ins talking slowly is really pissing me off. I'd be talking to someone and thinking : "Dear god - hurry up and finish the f3cking sentene..." and even jumping in to finish sentences for them. We should put up big signs at all entrance points with a picture of Dara O' Brian and a caption : "You must talk at least this quickly to enter."

......or we could just try and stuff a bit of Cork culture down their throats at the Jazz festival....

    Translation?
Yes, you are right- but what about the fools that do not hail from Cork at all- could we not get those people to come to the festival and get them to spend their euros!!

    Get money off of "blow-ins"

Yoyos, Cork venacular for Money, usually Euro's due to alot of Cork people's inate ability to not speak properly.
