Anyone got the likely Derby line up?

I'd start Foster and Welbeck again. I would also give a run out for the two Da Silva's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

That's a very very strong team, I'd be surprised at that strong. I'd expect Welbeck to get a run out. Rooney might also feature. Fabio will probably get a go aswell. Nani and Anderson too if they are fit in time.

    VDS

    Rafael
    Ferdinand
    Vidic
    O'Shea

    Ronaldo
    Carrick
    Scholes
    Park

    Berbatov
    Tevez

thats a very strong line up

no need for that strength espeically with inter coming up

for one carrick wont be playing

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

I'd guess that Carrick and Ferdinand won't play. Nani (if he's fit) in place of Ronaldo, and perhaps Giggs on the left wing again (save Park for the Inter match).

    foster
    raf----Neville----brown
    evra/oshea

    nani/park--Fletcher---scholes/gibson----tosic

    tevez
    Rooney

thats my team, I dont want Vidic near the 1st team for the derby match

If Rooney isnt fit,i dont have a clue then ,I rather not have Berba playing tbh

    Edit welbeck not injured

    wouldnt mind seeing Possebon thou

Right, I expect us to put this bunch in there place this time around considering we should have something more resembling a first team on the field. No replay here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

some people taking this game too seriously, some not enough.

    Foster
    Rafeal---Rio----Brown--Evra
    Fletcher----Scholes
    Ronaldo
    Tosic
    Berbatov-Wellbeck----

Rio and Brown have to start in the center IMO as they are the most likely combination for the Inter game. So giving them a game together is worth while.

Tosic needs games if he is gonna contribute in the latter stages of the league.

Carrick gets a rest after playing 90 for England.

If Rooney is fit which seems unlikely I would start him instead of Wellbeck. Give him and berb some time to gel again.

If Evra is not able to start then Fabio should.

haven't seen the game (only realised it was on when i got home and there were two minutes left...)

From what I have read, he had a shakey start defensively against the Bolton winger/forward (highly rated young lad himself) but got the upper hand has the half wore on. Ment to have put in a very solid performance and looked good going forward. Scored the opening penalty, with his right foot (thought he was actually left footed) and let Macheda take the second penalty (he also scored).

Won the game 2-0 btw, and apparently we should have scored a few more with some decent play in open play.

Did he pick up an injury over the international break? I know he was away with the U21's but i don't think he played. Hadn't heard about any injury.

Totally agree , However like to see Rio (if fit )and Brown get some game time as a partnership as I think they may start together against Inter

some good news and bad news

evans and evra are back for the derby match

Rooney is still recovering ,which is a big loss especailly with the inter match coming up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

I'd except a strong Utd line up - reduce the risk of a replay, which would disasterous! My team, fitness permitting:

    P.I.G.

    Neville Rio Brown Evra

    Nani Fletcher Scholes Park

    Ronaldo Tevez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,881 ✭✭✭dceire

Is the Utd match on TV? The FA Cup site has it down to be on ITV
    http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/TheFACup/NewsAndFeatures/Postings/FAC5R_WelbeckManUtd.htm
But there's no mention of it on the listings

My bad, the match is on Sunday isnt it!

    Anyway starting XI:
    Van der Sar

    Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

    Ronaldo - Fletcher - Carrick - Park

    Berbatov - Tevez

Think Gibson and Fletcher in the midfield might be a weak link. Let's hope Darren & Darron get on :)

Glad to see Vidic getting rested given that the next few weeks are jammed fixture-wise. Disappointed to see nani playing but I'll keep my fingers xd that he has a good game :) Giggs up front worries me a little (as much as I <3 Ryan), maybe Welbeck might have been a better option if tevez is being rested?? I think Welbeck has done well when called upon this year.

Nice to see Evra back, of course.

Very disappointed not to see Tosic in the match day squad at all. He isn't going to get acclimatized to the pace of the English game just by training.

Good point. It's the kind of game that would be less of a culture shock than a typical premiership game, though derby will make it difficult today no doubt. Still, could have come on for 20 minutes or so.

Well, Possebon hasn't been setting the reserves alight since his return form injury. Apparently he was looking a bit better against Bolton the other night, but he is still some way off his best form from what I have read.

    Gibson in midfield hmmmm

Derby are going to be hugely psyched up for this game and I'm just wondering if Gibson will be able to keep up or achieve any dominance in midfield against more experienced players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    That looks a weak midfield.

Most likely we will see Carrick at some stage I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,821 ✭✭✭Skud

disappointed fabio not in the squad either, dont think he's injured. Strange to have no out and out striker really.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭eclectichoney

I hate to say it, because I like to get behind the whole team, but I really don't rate Gibson at all unfortunately. He seems to get a lot of game time though for some reason so SAF must see something in him. Would have gone for Giggs in misfield with Fletch and then Welbeck and Ronaldo up front.

Bet Gibson gets a hat-trick now

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Smegball

I have faith in Gibson, expecting a terrible performance now though :P

he's alot better prospect than gibson

personally i cant believe Gibson is still at utd

Sir Alex must see somthing in him ?
