Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I used to watch Football Italia religiously years ago on Channel 4 but haven't followed it since they stopped showing it. Are any stations showing matches or at least highlights these days?

No, although the Milan Derby is on BBC 3 this week. Its available on betting sites. Its quite complicated but Setanta were supposed to show it but didn't because of the betting sites plus costs i think.

Your best bet is the streaming sites I'd say...

That's a bit ****! Not mad about streaming games and I hate watching games on the laptop too. Didn't Bravo show some games in the not so distant past?

Yep they did a couple of years back. Channel 4 dropped it in about 2004, then Eurosport took over and then dropped it. Bravo had it for a while then Five last season. Its a pity but i don't think the rights provided enough interest over here and the UK for the lofty price Italian clubs wanted, also each individual clubs sell their rights which is a nightmare for broadcasters here.

I miss the good ol days on a Saturday morning watching Gazzetta with James Richardson. Italian football was far more glamouress back then, better players ect and also the Champions League was dominated by the likes of Juve for a while.

Interest will spike though with Beckham there now though which is great.

Their own fault really, only the clubs own the rights to games and to show one a week you would have to deal with the all clubs. Some clubs sold their rights to a tv station or mediator to sell on but there is no common interest owner of the rights.

Stupid really if they had the EPL "money" for all" concept it would be on tv in most countries every week but for greed.

A lot more hassle than its worth for an non italian broadcaster to show regularly.

Think it was Juve who started it all in the 90s.

Yeah the whole Serie A rights thing is a bit complex.

Setanta did buy teh rights from Bravo but then refused to show it until the likes of betfair and such stopped streaming. The sites said no so Setanta refuse to show it despite the fact that they paid for it. No wonder they are in the red!

What doesn't help matters either is the individual contacts that clubs have for tv rights. Most clubs and certainly all the big ones sign up individually to tv networks, not the prem all for one deal. The result is that a package to show the full Serie A is quite expensive and TV stations wont just pay to have say Milan or Juve games.

They reap what they sow I guess.

Do you have any links to backup your claim that Setanta paid for rights but wont show the games?

James Richardson did say on football matters in August they had secured them.

Afterwards they didnt proceed for whatever reason(probably the betting sites)
