    Hi all
just wondering if anybody can reccomend a contractor or give a guide price
    the job
front garden cobblelocked and rebuild a pillar

this is to widen the opening in front wall
its a normal sem-d front garden

i have had a price from 1 guy
    3options

1 cement over grass area 2200

    2 tarmac full garden 2700

    3 cobblelock full garden 3700

    i think cobblelock looks best
any suggestions please or contractor details that you recomend

    Probably better suited to DIY.

    Moved from C&P.

I'm thinking of doing the same as yourself. Moving the pillars by one block - 18" and paving over about one third of the grass to get a second car in. I haven't got quotes yet but asking around that price of €3,700 you have seems pretty good.
Are you in the Dublin area or in the country? I'd imagine it's way dearer in Dublin

I used a company from Enfield to get the front garden cobblelocked, but cant remember the name of them, very good and reliable that was about 4 yrs ago, I'll try and find the receipt and get the name for you. I know about 3 people who got work done by them and all very happy.

Found it. Acorn Paving, Cloona, Enfeild, Co Meath 0872528350 and 01 6214811, dont know if they are still going but give them a ring and let us know.

    Hi Stedeb,
I got a quote of €900 to move the pillar 18", extend the steel gates and refit them. This was 18 months ago and I couldn't get the guy (from Wicklow) to come along and do the job. He said he was overrun with work.

    Might be different now!!

PS. You need planning permission to widen the driveway.

imprinted concrete will cost about €65 m2 to have it done right.be very careful who you get.check their website, previous work, customers etc.dont pay till the job is completly finished.ground preparation is the most important part of the job.should be dug 8" down have 4" of stone and then 4" concrete or sand and blocks whichever you choose.good luck

It would be good to see the pics, alright. Thinking of doing something similar myself.

Question... What is the maintenance like on cobblelock vs. tarmac? My parents have tarmac and it seems to get mossy while cobblelock tends to get weeds growing in the cracks.

    Stedeb,
That looks like an excellent job. Lovely finish, seems almost a shame to park the car on it.:D

What size is the area? Thinking about getting my own done.
