There's be a fight over the flavour.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Chocolate fudge brownie.

Not only does the name sound like a toilet reference, members could make many threads about how it's racist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Ridiculous recommendations of OTT violence should be allowed.

Oh GOD no. Didn't know they weren't but if they aren't, thank **** for that.

That or move threads about crime reports in the papers to somewhere far away from here and they can fap about to their violent fantasies to their heart's content.

YES it IS what goes on in those posts! Don't deny it!

Less rape jokes would be good as well. Pighead has never been raped before so this isn't some over-sensitive reaction to whenever it's brought up but whenever a rape joke is thrown into the mix every part of Pighead cringes and looks away. They may be jokes but they're rubbish jokes. Make jokes about hugging or consensual love instead.

As far I am concerned there is no place in AH for rape jokes or random misogyny. That's been a priority of mine since being offered the privilege of moderating here. I think it's important to take a stance to create a forum where all genders can post freely rather than having an AH boy's club. Of course we don't want political correctness gone mad but there you go.

are toilet threads still banned in ah? if so they should be allowed again, flutes threads were the best thing about this site

If you want to talk shite then just request that a new forum (or subforum) be set up for all these shitty threads.

Then you can all talk shite without pissing off all the other users.

If there was a 'safe' moderated image host (which is essentially what youtube is for vids) that didn't allow porn, vulgar or racist pics then it could work by creating [safeimg] [/safeimg] tags or something to link to it. Allowing people to post uncontrolled images or embbeded thumbnails would just encourage trolls to come and post stuff that would make you throw up your lunch or get sacked in work etc...
It's ok elsewhere on the site - that's because elsewhere isn't AH.

This is the main problem with embedded pictures. If they are enabled assholes can embed any picture they like. This is why they won't be enabled.

@Thanks in cool vids - I meant to ask CuLT before as to why it was disabled but I completely forgot. I've dropped him a pm now so we'll discuss it and see what happens.

I disagree, After Hours' official purpose was to take all the threads that didn't fit in already existing forums, not as a general acceptable chit chat forum. Sure it's developed it's own atmosphere and has become the /b/ of boards (in the sense that it's the popular one filled with aimless tools talking b*llocks, which isn't a criticism) but just because some people find certain conversation distasteful, doesn't mean we should implement blanket bans. You don't have to click them, obviously some people find them a laugh or else they wouldn't get any posts.

I just think it's a stupid direction to take that you can spout off any misinformed, utterly pointless sh*t as long as it falls within certain parameters.

I've actually run out of thanks, which I think is a first. So instead I'll say, good for you.

What if they were rape jokes about hot women raping men?

    Niiiiiiiiicccceeee.

That way it's not gender bashing.

Yes, misogyny has not place on a balanced forum, just as well as misandry. But once you stick to misanthropy it's ok, since you hate everyone equally. ;-)

Agreed, most of us have broadband now and I can't see why we should make do for those unfortunate to be stuck with a low speed connection. Sure they'll only be dissapointed when they try to open the links anyways ;)
I'm not too fond of the link thingy. It's open to abuse and people have been shown to abuse things like that in the past.
There are a few people who pop in every so often and link to viruses or goatse or crap like that. they tend to disguise the links too. Image links would just exacerbate this problem.
Unfortunately not everyone hovers over links before clicking them and end up being rickrolled.

I didnt understand a word of that last post, but I agree somewhat.
I dont think a blanket ban on the 'yore ma' posts should be in effect. If its done well it can be quite good.

Turd, if you endeavour to put time and thought and effort into really doing yore ma well I will be the first to put down the camcorder, stand back and applaud.
It's the crapness of 99% of yore ma jokes that makes it an issue. The fact is that posters think that there is a race to say it before someone else rather than becoming part of those precious few that have some level of ability to make users chuckle with a well written joke.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,910 ✭✭✭✭RoundyMooney

Yep, it's a cliche, and as such lazy and unimaginative.

    Most of the time anyway.

I agree. I hate yore ma jokes. They're just not funny, and the worst thing is, everybody who posts it thinks they're hilarious.

Definitely should be a banable (sp) offence.

I think that banning is a but severe, just a suitable message placed on the offending post and a "gentle reminder" by PM should be sufficient.

that will only encourage an angry post about "why cant i say your ma without being warned"

I think(now by think its just an idea so dont kill me) that people shouldnt be allowed post for a day if they get an infraction, that way they are more careful before posting dribble

    Oh and free cheese please:D
