Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i have a 2001 bmw 316 1.9 petrol and am getting very bad fuel consumption (26.9mpg); the car is serviced regularly and is isn't driven hard at all but 90% of my driving is in dublin city...i was thinking the mass air flow meter?

Might be worth having the car connected up to a diagnostic computer rather than throwing money at things that may or may not be faulty.

Saying that the 1.9 was nerver known for it's fuel efficency and 26.9 might be normal for it on an urban cycle.

I would say that fuel consumption isn't far off for a 316 with all city driving. I'm averaging around 31-32mpg from my 318ci(1.9) which is city driving during the week but I travel home at weekends and that is a long drive so it pushes up my mpg a fair bit.

I have a '01 1.9 and get around 36 mpg thats with a little city driving.I do about 26 miles per day and always seem to be putting petrol in it (20 euro a go) I know I should fill it up but hay.The tax is now 580 or something, was thinking of getting a different car with less tax and lower fuel comsumption, but once you get a bemmer it's hard to do back.

There's your problem. Are you stuck in traffic jams and inching along in 1st and 2nd?

What MPG do you get on long distance drives?
