Long story short:

The genetic evidence suggests that humans and Neandertals are very similar, but that the two species probably didn’t interbreed.

I'm sure plenty more drafts are forthcoming.

I'm not sure if its a good idea but the geek in me is pretty stoked we've reached this level.

I don't think you can clone one. You'd need intact cells with intact DNA.
