Do any of ye wonder mums know much about this nightmare?

Youngest is smothering with a cold & got the usual red ring around the nosefrom me chasing after her scrubbing her nose. Well thats what I put it down to. She was still streaming 3 days later, when she woke yesterday morning covered in what looked like chicken pox again all over her face. Following a visit to Granny & then the GP they both confirmed the dreaded Impetigo !!!

Apart from the seperate face cloths etc can anyone advice on this ? The first cream Fucidin she was allergic to & her whole face turned ruby. The second ointment appears to be improving it. The problem is she is still streaming - the have also diagnosed a sinus infection - and the fluid streaming out is making it spread.

Has anyone any suggestions apart from me sitting 24/7 with a tissue under her nose to solve this dilema?

I contacted the school immediately ( They nearly had a hernia) but I believe this is where she picked it up.

Any super solutions greatly appreciated ( She looks a total wreck now & is completely miserable)

My daughter needed an antibiotic as well as bactroban ointment for impetigo. Tea tree extract oil works also but would take a bit longer. Be sure to remove the crust when applying ointment or teatree.

For the nose you would the gp would know. Antihistamene(sp?) maybe.

When my little one got it the doctor gave her an antibiotic to take by mouth as well as the fucidin cream and that seemed to work after bout a week

Expert Shool Nurse advice!. She most certainly will have picked this up in school particularily if she had a cold and infected area was moist. Problem seen repeatedly in UK schools.
Spread is probably from pencils (wood) which Children have a habit of sucking and therefore can spread the problem.
Needs GP perscription. Must remove scab to put cream/ointment on as will not not work otherwise.

Hi all, have 10 month old girl and had a red patch on her back about a month ago.
She has been teething on and off for about 3 months now.
went to the GP he stated that it "looked" like a yeast infection and gave us flucillin(a type of penicillin) plus timodine cream(antibiotic).
small change for the better but not much,
meanwhile rash had developed around her neck small pimple-like things which are as itchy as hell to her.
plus the red blotch had spread and now there must be a dozen of varying sizes around her neck and back!
So back to GP and this time same GP's office different GP states that she has a type of fungal infection(not sure what type as the wife brought her, and the doc gave us two type of creams, fucidin and lamosil(for athletes foot,i know!!!)
DO these GP's know what they are on about at all?
Been applying both and when we apply the lamosil the blotches start to weep.
I am not sure what to do as she is like a bear trying to get at an an itch by using a tree.
she hardly sleeps until she is absolutely exhausted!
the poor thing cannot sleep properly at all.
next step is to demand a referral from GP to a specialist dermatologist.
    any ideas?
    thanks
    john

Do not seek medical advice or a diagnostic on this forum.

If you are not happy with the GP you have seen go see another one and get another
opinion or a referral to a derm or if you are a vhi member ring their nurse line.
