Toy Story 3. Best film I've seen all year. Really didn't expect to be grabbed by it so much. The
    incinerator scene
    actually made me cry.

Really enjoyed TS3 as well, caught it last week. I couldn't believe I got a bit teary-eyed in that scene, it was so powerful. And I'm a heartless bo11ox!

It was the end scene that had the greatest impression on me.
That & the old couple montage in Up that confirms Pixars genius.
I don't know how they do it but keep on doing it.

I just saw it for the first time a few days ago too.

I'll admit, it got me thinking about what's in my attic :)

    I nearly wet myself when
the elephant sneezed when he was being mended and all the fluff went everywhere :D

7/10, some true points regarding Irish life today (eg greed, etc) in it as other reviews mentioned.

Watched Cabin Fever on Film 4, bloody awful! But then watched The Departed so that redeemed everything, excellent movie!

Iron Man 2 - enjoyable pap

Scott Pilgrim - really enjoyed this one, loved some of the geeky references

Sexy Beast - Ben Kingsley was amazing in this... One of the most menacing performances I've ever seen!

Winter's Bone - Enjoyable for the want of a better word as it's quite grim.

    Taken - Preposterous.

Yeah, a million times before, but I can't remember the last time it was done so well. The pacing and editing is great. Films now days are so choppy.

Quills (2000) The story of the Marquis de Sade while incarcerated. Directed by Philip Kauffman who is always willing to taclke subject matters well off the beaten track. Great turns by Geoffrey Rush and Kate Winslet, able support from Michael Caine, Joaquin Phoenix and a gaggle of character actors done up to the nines in grotesquery.

EAT PRAY LOVE - BORING AND HARD TO FINISH

RED - NOT BAD BUT LAST 1/3 TURNS IT TO TRASH

SOCIAL NETWORK - HARD TO CARE ABOUT ANY OF THE CHARACTORS

THE AMERICAN - BORING IN PLACES, BUT OVERALL NOT BAD, BIT PREDICTABLE

INCEPTION - TOO STYLISED AND INDULGENT.

THE BIG MAN - SEEING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS - FLAWED BUT COMPELLING, THE FIGHT SCENE MUST BE ONE OF THE MOST REALISTIC AND VIOLENT EVER FILMED.

INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE - REWATCHED AND AGAIN FOUND IT FANTASTIC VIEWING, CRUISES BEST FILM?

sorry about the caps, did not look up until post was fully typed.

Bullets or Ballots (1936). I love these gangster, racketeering films from this era! Very entertaining, not huge but still worth a watch. Edward G. Robinson and Bogie together in this one.

Persona(1967). To say it's heavy going is putting it mildly, fantastic though.

I rewatched Quantum of Solace last night. At the first time watching it I was ready to call it rubbish but I thoroughly enjoyed it this time around. Nice chase and gunplay scenes. Not the best film ever but solid. Needs to be watched right after Casino Royale I feel.

A huge thanks to the person who recommended Matchstick Men a while back. Watched it last night and thought it was excellent. It was a big risk for me as I detest Nick Cage but he played a blinder. This is the kind of role that suits him, off-beat.

No. Alien & Aliens are both excellent. Alien 3 and resurrection are not much better than dvd. Personally I think they're both sh*te movies anyway. I just didn't have the patience to wait for individual releases.

Watching it this documentary over the weeked (all 9 hours!) and it's really good. Made in the '80s they interview survivors of the holocaust and the former SS involved. Far better than anything done by Michael Moore.

Worth it for the 1st two and all the extras though, no?
