Raging Bull - Great film, De Niro is brilliant in it.

Seven Pounds - Before I watched this I didnt really expect much from it (Will Smith), but I enjoyed it, decent film and worth the watch.

JFK - It's one of those film's for years i've wanted tho watch but never got around to it, until last night. Kevin Costner is solid enough in it. The conspiracy theory surrounding JFK's death is presented very well and it is a very thought provoking film. I'm sure there is a hollywood gloss put on to it but if the facts presented in the film are true it makes you really wonder about JFK's murder.

Just saw The Hangover today. If you've not seen it I highly recommend it.

Don't think I've ever come so close to literally pissing myself laughing. Go see it.... and bring a towel for protection.

Last night: Hot Fuzz on TV3. This is one I've got to see again, just to get all the references and appreciate the ultraviolence. :pac:

Tonight: just back from watching Gigantic at the IFI. Going in, I had only one reason to see it, and her name is Zooey:



Still, I was quite impressed by Paul Dano, who you might know from There Will Be Blood. Ed Asner and John Goodman were good too. It's a romantic comedy involving expensive beds, back problems, mushrooms, a Chinese baby, and a homeless guy on an unexplained vendetta. Typical indie movie, then. I didn't look at the reviews first, and a good thing too - I liked it. :cool:

watched war photographer a day or two ago, great documentry, watch hddvd versions of TMNT & Beowolf, had seen Beowolf in 3d before, but still looked pretty great

Angels and Demons I saw a few days ago, was good enough I suppose

The Hangover: The funniest film I've seen in a very long time!
Marley and Me: I cried at the end and believe me when i say, im not one to cry at films. I guess I have a soft spot for dogs!

The remake of 'The Amityville Horror'.

In short, don't bother. Not that the 1979 version was any great shakes, mind you, but I'm really at a loss as to why the remake even got the green light. It's a fairly lacklustre afair, with the two dull central characters ( Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George ) as George and Kathy Lutz.

The only interesting part is the original news footage from the 1974 Ronald DeFeo murders in the house at 112 Ocean Ave.

Tried to watch Hot Fuzz but, like Shaun of the Dead, I hated it. I can't understand why they are liked so much.

I watched The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded in HD. Looks beautiful in HD, especially the scene where the two lorries collide.

The Gauntlet 1977, Clint and Sandras second outing together, no masterpiece of course but the pair worked really well together and the shootouts are amusingly OTT.

The Punisher Extended Cut - I've been a big fan of the Punisher film since I first saw it and in the 5 years since it has recieved a dozen or so viewings. Finially after sitting on my shelf for well over a year I watched the extended cut. It takes an all ready great film and improves upon it. The characters are given more room to breath and the added storylines are extremely well done/

Lesbian Vampire Killers - While it does feature one or two laughs overall it's a travesty of a film. The laughs are few and far between, the story is woeful and bar Paul McGann the acting leaves a lot to be desired.

In the Loop - One of the most refreshing and entertaining films in a long time. It's also the rarest of things, a comedy for adults. It's extremely funny, perfectly acted and features some of the most refreshingly inventive swearing in a long time.

Mortal Kombat - Complete nonsense but enteraining as hell. It's not big, it's not clever but it is fun and given the source material you really couldn't ask for much more.

Star Wars: Episode III has just finished on RTE1. First time I've seen the whole thing. We obviously know how it ends, but I was interested in how it bridged the gap between Episodes I-II and Episodes IV-VI, and I thought it did that fairly well.

The political side is interesting, with some fairly obvious references to the Bush regime. "If you're not for us, you're against us", etcetera. It's a darker film than I expected, with some scenes that I'm surprised to see on TV on a Sunday afternoon - especially the transformation of Anakin Skywalker in to Darth Vader. :eek:

Spies Like Us - Decent 80s comedy. It's slight and easy to watch with some decent laughs sprinled througout.

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane - A prime example of an early 90s action film. Loud, obnoxious and fun. Andrew Dice Clay is far from the most subtle of actors but the role suits him perfectly and Renny Harlin's direction is top class. No one will ever mistake it for a great film but it is lots of fun.

i watched the golden voyage of sinbad on the sci-fi chanell yesteday evening , stumbled across it and was delighted to be reaquainted with a movie series i loved as a kid growing up although i dont know of any U rated movie nowadays that have such gratuitous shots of heaving busoms from a lead female charechter

Fast & Furious - Typical fare, watchable.

Role Models - started off good, but it went down the route of other films, turning into a pile of mush, with obligitory happily-ever-after ending.

Ice Age 3 - yawn (!) - even the kids weren't that excited by it. Have the first two on DVD but the latest effort was just another money making exercise. Going offline now to watch Sweeney .2. or The Godfather on VIDEO - thank God for charity shops as there's little enough on TV.

i watched "let the right one in" the other night and it was brilliant a great change on the vampire film and one of the best foreign films ive seen in a long time also watched..

hitman- meh

close encounters of the third kind - classic sci fi

event horizon - good

xmen 1- not too bad

xmen 2 - great film with a great opening scene in the white house

have been watching a lot of films lately nothin else to do in chad.

Extreme Movie - One of the most laughless comedies I have seen in a long time. While the cast features some impressive names over all it's a one joke film which goes nowhere. The only laugh of the entire film comes from Matthew Lillard talking about sex. There is also a rather fun musical piece which somewhat makes up for what went before.

its my goal to see evry single film listed in the book "1001 movies you must see before you die". i bought it the other day and looked through it and realised i only saw 71 of them so far.....i have a long way to go

Moon: I can't recommend this enough. Great piece of acting by Rockwell. Only word of caution is that it's a bit slow moving.
