The Killing Fields - very, very good.
    Wanted - meh
Gran Torino - alright, but not great..some of the acting was terrible.
The Gathering Storm - very, very good.

    The Incredible Shrinking Man

Not the first time I've seen this one, but it remains a perenial favorite. When you look through the initial 50's sci-fi trappings, it reveals an intelligent approach to the basic premise and it comes to a somewhat unexpected ending. There is no happy conclusion to this film and in it's way it's logical end is quite depressing.

    Highly recommended.

Miss March - I have to say that I really enjoyed this one. It's from the guys who gave us Thw Whitest Kids You Know and as a comedy it's juvenile and about as subtle as a kick to the nuts yet it somehow works.

    In The Loop
    Bronson
    Flammen & Citronen
    Hounddog
    Johnny Mad Dog
    The Baader Meinhof Complex
Any opinions on any of these?

this was pretty good. quite fast paced in places and some pretty brutal scenes.

i felt it peaked in the middle and kinda lost itself towards the end.

The Gigolos - an indy film made a few years ago with super cast, was on BBC1 last night.
Charming slice of nocturnal London life about a two man escort agency for older women.

Saw The Hangover last week and thought it was absolutely amazing. I implore anyone to hurry up and go see it before it's taken out of the cinema.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire last night on DVD. Overall good but ending was a bit silly. As a comparison, i thought Quiz Show was far better. I just thought Slumdog lacked credulity. Im sure it looked better on the big screen but i think they could have made the story more epic by removing the Who wants to be the Millionaire segment from it

    Eden Lake.

Good movie, but very bleak at the same time.

If you can read this, you're too close!

    Last House on the Left
    Steam Experiment

Last House on the Left is okay. The Steam Experiment is crap.

Saw the Hangover and I thought it was pretty weak. I know a lot of people liked this one but I went with mate and at the end we both looked at each other and asked: what was all the hype about?

On the other end of the spectrum I watched A waltz with Bashir which is quite possibly one of the greatest films Ive ever seen. Seriuosly deep stuff and brilliantly made. If you saw the hangover and felt completely underwhelmed check out A waltz with Bashir.

Went to see Frozen River earlier this evening. It's a pretty powerful "slice of life" among the poor working class folk on the border between the USA and Canada, where human trafficking takes place on a Mohawk reservation that straddles the border. Two women - one White, one Mohawk - find themselves collaborating to bring people over the border, which has unforeseen consequences: some good, some bad, some just plain ugly.

Some sly social commentary on modern America there, for example:
the white family has so little money, they're eating popcorn for dinner, but they'll fight to save their 50-inch TV. I thought the ending was a little too neat, unrealistic and politically-correct.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

I agree about the ending. A good movie otherwise.

Just watched District 13, decent enough action film. I enjoyed Parkour Vision on the extras more than the film itself.

Watched Schindler's List last night becuase I'll be going to Auschwitz in a few weeks. Enjoyed it, well it's a dificult film to watch but it is an immense piece of work imo...

As I type this I'm watching Good Will Hunting (again) and Robin Williams is going at it with that "you're just a kid" speech. I love this film!:)

Just watched Revolutionary Road. Didn't enjoy it at all. Just thought it was fairly boring, depressing, and hard work.

I've watched Lethal Weapon - great movie! Glover and Gibson as one of the best movie duets I've ever seen. Funny script, good acting, great music (the movie was made in 1987).

Closing song from GWH "Miss Misery" by Elliot Smith i think best song from a movie ever.

Just watched The Squid and the Whale. It's about a divorce, but it's a long way from Kramer vs. Kramer, since every member of the family is screwed up in his or her own way. Not much to recommend it, except for a few genuinely shocking scenes, mostly involving the younger son, who says and does things you would not expect from any 10-year-old.

Watched Vertigo on saturday afternoon........loves anything with James Stewart in it.

Green Street 2 - A truly awful film. I enjoyed the first movie and was looking forward to this one. It's a prison movie, and the lead just happens to be a west ham fan.

Righteous Kill - Was a pretty good movie but could see the ending from very early in the movie.

If you can read this, you're too close!

Watched I Love You Man which wasn't great, some funny moments but meh overall. Also rewatched Blade Runner for the first time in a few year, such a brilliant film.

Saw that a while ago and it is truly dire, one of the worst things I've ever watched.

Fired Up - An enjoyable little comedy which did'nt rely on smut to amuse. It's never going to be considered a classic but then again no one expects it to be. Best watched with some snacks on a lazy wet afternoon.

Dracula - The original 30s classic. While it's cerrtainly aged and is highly overrated it still manages more chilling moments than any recent horror. The portrayel of Renfield is perhaps the best yet.

J.C.V.D. - Now this is a modern classic. I've been a Van Damme fan all my life and always beleived that eh could act. He proves once and for all just how talented he is. The film is perfect in every way and one which I cannot recommend highly enough.

Walk Hard - One of the least funny comedies I have seen in a long time. The talent involved are all impressive but the end result is a spoof of the nearly the same quality as Disaster Movie. The films one saving grace are the songs.

The Contract - The perfect example of a film where tha talent can't save it. John Cusack and Morgan Freeman are obviously phoning it in. The film commits the biggest sin a thriller can, it's boring.

Repo the Genetic Opera - Absolutly fantastic film. So good that I watched it twice. Of all the films I've seen this year Repo has recieved the most watches and every time it entertains and amuses no end.

I Love You Man - While not quite the film it could have been it remains an entertaining enough. There are no laugh out loud moments and the cast bar Rudd fail to impress. It's the perfect film for watching while half asleep.

17 Again - Who would have thought it Zach Efron can act. While immensly creepy at times the film is enjoyable tosh and has enough funny moments to suffice. That said I really do expect more from the man who gave us Igby Goes Down.
