    Watched
Win Win: Fantastic movie in my opinion. Only flaw was the ending. Other than that 9/10 for me.

    Killer Elite
: Enjoyable move no doubt, didnt like how
they killed off the other Assasins that Jason was working with though
Other than that, very very good in my opinion. 8/10

Tonight I'll be watching The Prestige and The Troll Hunter.

Six minutes of Starsky & Hutch (2004) on RTE 2 tonight - life is too short to watch such utter crap. The original TV series was a good run of the mill cop series but what the hell was this supposed to be?

Watch Greenberg, Stiller owns that film

Wish he was given more serious roles like that

Love him in some of his comedy stuff too though

Watched Antichrist last night thinking it was an Omen type thing, it's not! it is messed up but beautifully shot at times. I'm still not sure what the point of it was.

It's a weird one isn't it. My opinion kept switching from "why am I watching this" to "this is really good". Have no idea what to make of it. Felt sorry for Willem Defoe. He gets a pretty rough time.

Watched Training Day tonight. Excellent film with good performances from Denzel and Ethan Hawke. Highly recommend it.

    Screamers 2: The Hunting.

That's right. They made a sequel to the Paul Weller 1995 Sci-fi movie. While the first Screamers was a good movie .... this has to be one of the worst movies ever made.

Seriously, one of the worst movies ever made.

After all the recommendations on here, I watched Animal Kingdom last night. Really good, gripping, well-plotted stuff.
    I effing hated Pope!

    We Own the Night:

It was alright, I enjoyed the story somewhat but it was lacking fluidity imo

I don't particularly like Joaquin Pheonix as an actor tbh, he seems very one dimensional in most movies I've seen him in....not that he was poor in this or anything, he was okay but I let my dislike for him get in the way of enjoying the film tbh.

Didn't like the ending although there was some good suspense built into it and a nice moment between Pheonix & Wahlberg at the end.

    Overall 6/10

Captain America: The First Avenger: Watched this yesterday. I'm a bit of a sucker for film adaptations of various comics but this one was very disappointing. Really didn't enjoy it all.

Watched "Days of Glory" a couple of days ago. Brilliant, if a little slow at times, but one of the saddest movies I think I've ever seen. Its about North African Muslims fighting for France in WW2.

Watched a good few movies lately

Drive - Movie of the year, maybe be even of the last few years.

Cars 2 - I used my son as an excuse to watch this. Brilliant story and new characters. Maybe a bit too long but entertaining.

Attack The Block - average movie, leave your brain outside when watching this

Super 8 - I really enjoyed this, a bit fluffy in story but a good watch

Blue Valentine - Superb movie, absolutely superb. Slow moving but i found that i didnt want the movie to be over when it finished. Thankfully there were some pictures in the credits to fill in some gaps and potentially answer some questions

Bridesmaids - I laughed at a good chunk of this, especially the scene when looking for bridesmaid dresses. Not very lady-like at all

Bad Teacher - Thought this was good in places but became a bit predicable. Worth it to see JT dry humping Cameron Diaz

Crazy, Stupid, Love - I thought this would be pants, but turns out to be really good. A really big twist in it that had me and the missus shocked that we didnt see it coming.

Captain America - nicht so gut, last 30 minutes were really entertaining, but too much back story before we got to see some action

Thor - I thought Thor was awesome. Everything a super hero movie needs in in Thor. Looking for a horse in the pet store had me in stiches.

Green Latern - not good, not bad, pretty average movie

Green Hornet - I thought this was ace, particularly the bad guy trying to make a new name for himself. The gadgets in the car are what should be in all cars.

Margin Call - Excellent. Given what the movie is about I didn't expect to be so gripped by it. I almost didn't recognise Leonard Nimoy in it.:D

Drive - :p No idea why this is so popular. Cliche'd to bits and tries way to hard to be different...imo. In no way is that a bad thing considering the shlte pumped out by hollywood but it didn't work for me.

The Road: It was quite enjoyable but by the end of it I was left feeling very depressed and the entire film (due to the colour) was just so bleak and dark. Very well acted throughout too.

    The Social Network

Third time seeing it and It just reinforced my opinion that it's one of the finest main-stream Hollywood films in the last ten years

The soundtrack is pulsating and menacing

Sorkins script is ridiculously fluid and slick and matched with Finchers direction, make it very hard to look away

Eisenberg gives a brilliant performance as Zuckerberg, not to mention Garfield and the rest of the supporting cast

It takes some factual liberties but who cares when it's this entertaining

    10/10

Lone Star......recommended in this thread...I was expecting a lot after reading reviews here and RT...I was let down a bit but it was still enjoyable and would recommend it.

Twin Falls Idaho - A strange, beguiling and ultimately moving portrait of Siamese twins. Directed with great care by the Polish Bros. (also starring as the conjoined folk in question) it's one of the most affecting films I've seen recently. Not all the stylistic decisions work (although there is a powerful flashback / dream sequence near the end that is heartbreakingly silent) and the basic story structure does somewhat lack originality, but the result is hard to dislike.

If you're reading this, give The Butterfly Effect a chance. (Ashton Kutcher & Amy Smart) Absolutely love that film. Shutter Island is great too.

Beautiful film. Too bad their subsequent work doesn't seem to be as heartfelt.

Yeah saw Northfork years ago but don't remember much about it! It came with Twin Falls in a double pack, though, so might give it another gander at some point!

    The Thing
My brother just came home from Canada and he saw the remake - incidently he said it was one of the worst movies he has seen in a long time and he would have a much higher tolerance for CGI/remakes than I would - so we decided to watch Carpenters version yesterday. Its still such a wonderfully tense movie.Granted some of the effects work has aged a bit but its the little things like the sound effects during the transformations aswell as the palpable sense of mistrust throughout.I also adore the closing scene with
Mac and Childs sitting in front of eachother both obviously suspicious and just eye balling eachother then leaving it at that.

It really is a horror classic.
    9/10

Gonzo: The Life and Times of Hunter S Thompson

Huge Hunter fan but like most of the films based on his books, this was a bit of a let down

Opening is really good but it feels like something you'd see on the biography channel surmised in an hour

The contributors are all people who were very close to Hunter but it's obvious they were in far too much of a comfort zone during the interviews

A good introduction for those unfamiliar with the great man but it offers nothing new for die-hard fans and as a piece of Documentary Cinema it's average

    6/10

Also tried to watch Easy A tonight but turned it off after 5 minutes. I'll come back when I'm feeling more up to the teen comedy onslaught it was inevitably gearing up to

Have planned on watching this for a while - saw a small bit of it on TV at one stage and thought it looked very good.

Will still give it a glance

    12 Angry Men

Decided to slap on this old classic since the GF hadn't seen it, probably the 1st movie in a long time where she didn't fall asleep during it :pac:

    Absolute class-act in filmmaking.

I watched Winters Bone and Easy A in the last few days.

The former: Incredible film all across the board for me, it is so well done that I forgot I was watching an ensemble of actors speaking pre-written dialogue. The tone, mood, setting, story, acting and direction didn't let me down once. The most notable actor in this is John Hawke (who I've only ever seen in TV roles including Deadwood, Lost and Eastbound and Down) and holy shít he can act! Same to be said for the girl playing the 'weight-of-the-world-on-her-shoulders' teenage protagonist. Simply, what a flick!

The latter: This film just kept me ticking over throughout. it is not a teen comedy in the same vein as 'Superbad' or like 'American Pie' was back in the day, the lewd factor and laughs-per-minute ratio isn't on the same scale, but it is miles smarter than those films that I mentioned. It's charming if a little too self aware. For me the most entertaining scenes involved Olive interacting with her family (Stanley Tucci uses his relatively small screen time to add to a lot of the film's humour as Olive's Dad). I wouldn't recommend anyone not to watch it, but I was expecting more given what I had previously read about it.

Oh, how could I forgot, I almost did...Route Irish, very gritty 'real' film, the tone isn't a million miles away from 'Dead Man's Shoes' and for me it was almost as entertaining as the Shane Meadows masterpiece. Some great emotional performances from actors i've never previously laid eyes on, and an intriguing plot that should keep you watching until the very end, speaking of which it was the only thing that let me down.
I don't feel he had to do a 'Dead Man's Shoes', there were some possibilities there for him to etch out a decent life and overcome some of the monsterous things he had to do to uncover truths/carry out vengeance.

Got my boyfriend to watch this with me a few months ago and he actually liked it! Usually he gets bored and plays football manager during black and white films :pac:

Currently watching Casino. I enjoy Martin Scorsese but I can't stomach the violence (I'm a wimp!).

I also watched 'The Life Of David Gale' recently for the first time in years. I loved it as much as the first time I'd seen it. If I like a film I'll normally look it up on Wikipedia or Rotten Tomatoes after watching it (bit of a backwards way I know!) and the reviews and comments from critics about this film are worse than The Human Centipede!! Not only do most critics go full negative on it, you'd swear it was a piece of Nazi propoganda film the way they were talking about it, I was a bit befuddled.

Anyone else out there enjoy 'The Life of David Gale'??

The cornfield scene towards the end of the movie is always something I have serious difficulty in watching, doesn't leave me feeling well at all, and i'm a 28 year old 'man' who's seen a fair bit of blood over the years!
