Just watched Moneyball, really good and nice to see Brad Pitt's trademark of eating in every scene.

Tried watching Human Centipede 2 and by golly it was terrible, switched it off after 20 minutes.

Great movie indeed, but I always prefared Aliens, anyone agree?

Nah. All the horror was lost. I don't know how Scott is going to recapture that edge that Alien had, especially if it's PG-13.

In Time: Had some nice ideas but really only scratched the surface with most of them, also took me a while to get used to the way the world the film is set in works. Decent but could have been better.

    PG13?

    Oh FFS...

Battle Royale. Very good film but very violent.

Saw this last night having seen The Hunger Games last week. There are ridiculously similar. Probably enjoyed Battle Royale more. Both are worth a watch though.

It bothers me slightly that less people will experience the "what the hell did I just watch?" freshness of Battle Royale now that Hunger Games is so popular.

What made Alien a brilliant horror movie was the tension, not the gore. They can still do that on a PG13 movie.

For instance, the two scariest movies I have ever seen are Jaws and The Woman in Black, both PG13 AFAIK.

Watched The Debt, with Helen Mirren the other night. Enjoyable enough. Worth a watch.

Tale of MOSSAD and Nazi hunting.

Dr. Strangelove - Unbelievably had never seen this. Fantastic satire of US / Russian relations during the Cold War. Dialogue throughout fantastic, and keeps the movie going. Brilliant IMO.

The Grey - Fell asleep not long after
    the plane crash.
Don't know whether that tells me it was crap up to that point, or I was tired. Either way, absolutley nothing had developed until then.

Watched the Hurt Locker again last night. A lot of people I know say to me that it's boring or far too drawn-out, but I think it's a really rewarding film if you stick with it. I think the first hour is absolutely outstanding, brilliant film-making and beautifully shot. It does trail off in the second half a bit tbf.

It's not a plot-centred film by any means, but a chronicling of a man's (apparently) limited relationship with his one true love: war. Interesting theme IMO, which we have seen touched on in a few other war films but rarely see it centred on.

youtube seems to be offering up some strange delights
at the moment despite their policies...

just downloaded a plethora of films including de palma's excellent
sisters and a few rare made for american tv numbers...

but the most jaw dropping was an uncut print of death wish 2
which seems to be unavailable on disc or elsewhere.

a nasty film to be sure.

    warning; not for the fainthearted.

    ;)

I can never get over the amount of full movies on Youtube.
A few years ago I watched the original Saw during work, quiet day that.
People who would bollock you out of it for downloading a flick have no qualms when it's up on Youtube.

Man on a Ledge - Surprising decent, not fantastic or anything but not a bad way to waste a couple of hours. Oh, and Ed Harris has gotten OLD!!!

    Contraband - Okay I guess.

Win Win - A charming comedy with Paul Giamatti, can't go wrong!

I liked Contraband, I thought Man On Ledge was one of the most boring films I've seen in a long time, for such a good idea, it was terrible. Ed Harris is so much better than that heap of ****e!

    Ronal The Barbarian

Hysterical animated film. Parody of the barbarian movies. A clan of barbarians gets taken away by an evil dude, and it's up to the last one left, Ronal, to rescue them. Only thing is he's a total weakling and scared. Very low-brow, but worth watching. I know I'm not really selling it very well, here, but trust me.

just finished watching the adjustment bureau or at least half
of it with the little lad.

oh dear... interesting idea, nice NY locales, well shot but the thing is so slow and disjointed that one's patience eventually wears thin...

and i'm not even mentioning the horrible matt damon (the once james bond wannabee)...

might finish the thing in the morning before football and a trip to
    battleship.

Saw Dr.Strangelove decades ago and hated it - might give it another whirl on the strength of your recommendation.

Watched "The Dawn" (1938) on DVD last night. Filmed in the Killarney area and apparently the first Irish 'talkie'. Following the abortive Fenian rising of the 1860s a family are branded as informers. Years later, another generation of the same family are caught up in the Tan War and once again their loyalties come under the spotlight. Only for the diehard Irish movie buff - I fell asleep several times. :D

One of my all time favourite movies/books and radio plays. Which one did you watch - there are four?

    1935 directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

1959 starring Kenneth Moore - my favourite.

1978 starring Robert Powell - awful but I still have it on DVD.

    2008 BBC production starring Rupert Penry-Jones. :)

Everything Must Go - A low key comedy, with Will Ferrell playing more of a serious role. I had a few chuckles and enjoyed it overall.

Our Idiot Brother - Some good performances, Adam Scott is a consistently funny man and Paul Rudd has moments but not as many as he might have done. Plot became a bit predictable after a while but still relatively enjoyable.

Contagion - It was okay. To be honest I expected more following the hype. A nice cast and its concept is worrying, insofar as it seems realistic enough. Just never got emotionally invested in any character to any great degree.

The Grey - Enjoyed this. Didn't expect the ending and thought it was one of Liam Neesons better films. It was fresh despite its arguably stale concept and exceeded my expectations. Didn't think Joe Carnahan was up to much as a director but was pleasantly surprised here.

Footloose 2011 - Never saw the original, no idea really why I watched this. It was surprisingly watchable though, I thought Kenny Wormald had a nice presence for a guy who hadn't acted before. I hear it is very like the original, but it kept me entertained throughout.

Friends with Benefits - Was hesitant enough about seeing this after seeing No Strings Attached, which I liked. Thought they would be essentially the same movie, which they actually weren't. Fairly entertaining, standard genre fare here, a few good laughs. Would have liked to see more of Stone and Samberg though.

I can't see why someone wouldnt be entertained be it, beyond the obvious aspect that maybe war movies aint their thing, but its a good watch. Kills 2 hours and keeps you entertained. You cant go wrong imo :)

    Watched The Cooler (2003)

    Its a decent watch :)
William H. Macy plays a man who works at a casino whos an 'unlucky bloke' :pac: So unlucky that its his actual job. If a person is winning big at the casino its his duty to make sure they start loosing. Just by being near them :pac:

But of course he meets a girl :) Could say more but don't wanna spoil the story.

Yet the most memorable scene for EVERYONE who first saw it, was the chestbuster scene. ;)

PG13 for any horror movie is a joke.

    ...and 'Jaws' is very bloody.

I've just seen the 'Fair game'. I thought it was just a normal Hollywood agent movie but it was based on a real story and stuff.. I liked it very much.

The Cabin in the Woods - Well this has shot up as the best movie I have seen this year, and I can't see it been displaced anytime soon. I definitely plan on going to the cinema to see this again.

I recommend you go see this WITHOUT reading anything about it, or watching any trailers because you will enjoy it so much more!

That's it, I want to say so much more, but I won't, because I think you'll enjoy it a lot more without knowing anything.

Now stop reading this and go see it damnit!
