    The Fourth Kind

It was terribly presented and kinda made me bored. Though the story was ok the acting and split screen / dual audio was just plain annoying. 1/5

    Paranormal Activity

Pretty basic and predictable but still fun. too much talking and build up of tension and not enough actual scares. I've seen both versions of this fllick not and the one in the cinema now is way better than the version thats doin the rounds on the net. 3/5

    Had forgotten about this.

Went to see it last week. There was about 25 or so people at it. At least 10 walked out before the hour mark and I left shortly after that.

    Garbage.

What bugged me was the 'Real Audio' titles on footage that was so faked. Think they were going for a Blair Witch ang;e and hoping maybe some media rumours might pick-up on the 'maybe it's real' angle .. yawn.

The Wicker Man - Watched this on friday last, and heard the bad news today. Very good film, very weird film.

The Enforcer - Dirty Harry Callahan! What more can I say!? They certainly don't make them like this any more.

Towering Inferno - Disaster movies get a lot of criticism, which I understand to some extent, but I loved this one. Great 70s vibe to it and it has a great cast.

The Men Who Stare At Goats - Not as good as I expected. Entertaining and will make you chuckle, but no more than that. Doesnt get the most out of an excellent cast.

Moon - Brilliant. Interesting, intelligent science fiction with a great performance from Sam Rockwell. Recommended.

Paranormal Activity - I dont understand people slating this. It was made on a shoe string budget, yet is actually fairly decent. Nothing original about it but definitely worth a watch.

Up - This is my second time seeing it and I enjoyed it a lot more than the first viewing. The talking dogs and bird creature annoyed me a lot less this time round. A modern classic.

The Girlfriend Experience - Strange one. I felt a bit confused at the end, not sure what point the movie was trying to make. Pornstar Sasha Grey is decent, but the film lacks direction and doesnt really go anywhere.

Oh just remembered i watched Hard Candy last night, maybe i was trying to erase it from my memory, not because it was bad just really unsettling. Interesting film though.

Caught the second half of this, was a very strange/disturbing film but it was very good at the same time. Ellen Page was brilliant!

holy crap i saw this fllick a few months ago and i thought it was utter tripe. predictable obvious cliched tripe at that Sam Rockwell was the best thing in this movie, he was great but the movie it self was a bore fest. felt ldike it was never gonna end!

We had a Star Wars weekend with lots of pop-corn and beer. That was cool. And I won't comment the movies because everybody knows they're great. :)

Really Skinfull...i thought Moon was brill. not as good as Halloween 2 which i saw recently also...

    Seriously though...

Knowing - Nic Cage drama/suspense yarn. Decent enough but drags on.
GI Joe - Decent fun which didn't take itself seriously.
    Zombieland - Again pure fun.
The Mummy 3 - No, just...no. Terrible crap. Yetis...
The City Of Ember - Decent kids flick.
The Promotion - weird sorta film this. John C Reilly and Sean William Scott are in it. the latter playing against type which was good to see. It's made out to be a comedy but a bit like Adventureland, is a drama with some humour.

As a sidenote...tried to watch Bruno but couldn't get past the first 20mins. Just too cringe inducing. I didn't even like Borat that much.

I finally got around to watching Stardust. Despite being predictable (it's a fairytale after all), it's one of the best films I've seen in a long time.

    'Crimes of the Future' (1970)

One of David Cronenberg's very early efforts. Really strange flick about a science institute called "The House of Skin", run by a guy called Adrian Tripod, who is studying strange conditions that have sprung up in androgynous males in a world that has seen most of the female population destroyed in a plague caused by cosmetic products. Tripod later comes into contact with various groups, one of which is harbouring a 5 year old girl and whom Tripod has decided to try and impregnate.

On paper, it sounds like an interesting (if disturbing) premise, but unfortunately it can't live up to it's "promise".

Shot on a pittance, none of the characters utter a word of dialogue and the only voice we hear is Tripod's un-nerving tones. There's no music either and the only other sounds we hear are a collection of seemingly random "soundscapes". But, the short film (under 70 minutes) is a difficult thing to sit through, even though it does keep the viewer attached to see what is going to happen in Cronenberg's strange and quiet world.

I find it a guilty pleasure, no where near the Princess Bride but a good escape movie.
Claire Danes playes the socially inept and annoyed person very well. I have always had a thing for her

Loads of rentals, but the last two in the cinema were Law Abiding Citizen, which is laughably bad, and Harry Brown, which, while it has a superb performance from Caine, didn't quite live up to expectations.

I watched Moon 2 nights ago and loved it. I had seen the trailer and knew what it was about but it still really surprised me. Sam Rockwell is one of the best actors around today and should be in more movies.

Saw Doubt last night on DVD. Very strong cast of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Meryll Streep who seems to get better with age. Well worth a look.

LOL I take it you are joking. another movie that had me all giddy going in and depressed like a menapausal prostitute coming out. Though in fairness...the movie would have been way better were it not for the
stupid shots of his mum and himself and that god dammed horse...not to mention that ending...puke!

9 - Perfect animation, not very original story but pretty dark and entertaining.

State of Play - Meh. good performances from Crowe (did he specifically put on weight for this role? or has he just let himself go?) and Affleck but over all nothing new brought to the table and the
moment i saw Affleck crying at the committe meeting
i called it, spent the rest of the movie watching what i knew was gonna happen, play out which was annoying. hoped for more.

Moon and Halloween 2 were excellent - maybe we were in different movie theaters...;)

    Seriously though...

500 days of Summer - I loved this! pure class indie and your man Jospeh Gordon Levitt is turning out to be a great actor! I know it was sorta angled this way
but in the end i really felt like Zooey Deschanel's character was a bitch!

    Fantastic Mr. Fox

    Class!

I love anything Wes Anderson puts his hand to.

Meet The Parents: I've seen it before and watched it out of complete boredom. Good film. Would've enjoyed it a lot more if I hadn't seen it twice before though.

    Different movie theaters...possibly different movies!
Moon was predictable boring and romero zombie paced...HAlloween 2 was neither a good slasher nor a good horror.

100% agree with you on 500 days of summer though!

I watched 'The Signal' - really enjoyed it, about a transmission coming from phones, the telly, radio etc that turns people crazy so that they start killing each other.. its in three parts with three different directors, would recommend if you were looking for something different.

Also watched 'Right at your door' about a dirty bomb going off in Los Angeles spreading a toxic cloud across the city.. similar in vein to Signs in that its one familys experience of the event..

Moon - as others have said Rockwell is a fantastic actor, also loved him in Confessions of a Dangerous mind & welcome to Collinwood. Mr Bowie Jnr came up with a good movie, the story was something new and interesting. Set and visual effects were quite good too. Not sure about Kevin spacey as Gerty though.

Never realised until now that he was Bowie's son!

2012.... non stop hilarity and fun! Great effects stuff exploding and crap flying all over the place. Acting is fine except for Platt who steals EVERY scene, even teh ones he's not in.
Danny Glovers final demise was epic...slow clap
Message is beyond ridiculous but who cares. I'm not goin to 2012 to see if the mayans were onto something, I went to see **** blow up. Box, ticked!

I really enjoyed this too. Thought the script was really original and no hollywood ending.
