For Your Consideration, from the people who brought you This Is Spinal Tap. Very funny take on what happens when the buzz of an Oscar nomination reaches the actors of a small budget movie. The only fault I had with it was that Ricky Gervais is in it. Can't stand the man, he's about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit!

Oh sweet lord. If you, like me, loved Anchorman. You should love this movie.
    I thought it was hilarious.
Complete piss take on any of the Blaxploitation movies ever released. Dodgy camera work, dodgy acting and "sticking it to the man" What's not too love.
I loved when Bullhorn "accidentally" hit one of the guys in the pool hall, he says "Muthaf*cka!" and they just replaced him mid-shot, class. :D

Farts are always funny to be honest. The day I can't laugh at a fart is the day I realise that I'm on the way out!

El secreto de sus ojos. Wonderful movie from Argentina. The pacing is unusual for a crime/thriller, its very relaxed and deliberate, but doesnt for a minute feel slow or laborious. Very enjoyable.

Zombieland-Quality show. Loved every bit of it. Great great comedy

Lethal Weapon[MOURNFUL JAZZ]Brings me back to my younger days when I thought that Mel Gibson was the toughest mofo ever.[/MOURNFUL JAZZ]

Good Night and Good Luck Brilliant movie. David Strathairn is great in it and made me want to talk like a 60's reporter for a while afterwards.

All The Presidents Men Hadn't seen this in a while and its such a great movie to watch. Hoffman and Redford on top top form

Why spoil Harry Potter for everyone who hasn't seen it? Just because you got in trouble for talking about the trailer for Rambo.

    Adam & Paul:
Watched it with the gf last night and she got really depressed asking if Dublin was really like that and now does not want to move to dublin :P. ( we live in Austria )

ROFL..now dont go lying to her!!

    Anyways what I've watched recently

Men who stare at goats - fell asleep after 30 mins......

The Foot Fist Way - I thought it rocked. Very low budget, off beat and kind of slow but the laughs were big.

True, but one while in a spacesuit can't be much to write home about!

On a lighter note saw Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll last night. A bit all over the place but Andy Serkis is superb as Ian Dury. Doesn't paint a nice picture of the man at all. I'm sure he would have loved it, he didn't want to be liked, he wanted to be listened to.

I'm in the middle of the Generation Kill series. Not sure if it qualifies as films or a series but they're produced by HBO Films and I regard them as a series of short films. So in here it goes.

They're very good so far. After watching the Hurt Locker I went looking for Iraq war themed stuff. I expected to be disappointed but surprisingly this is almost at the same quality.

    Mesrine parts 1 & 2 (Killer Instinct & Public Enemy No. 1)

Both very good films and in my opinion, gives Vincent Cassel the role he should always be remembered by. Jacques Mesrine was one of France's most notorious criminals and these two films track the rise and fall of this charming\unpredictable\violent man. It is in French with english subtitles which really added to the feeling and authenticity of the film allowing it to be more "real" than just another crime caper churned out by Hollywood.

Law Abiding Citizen: It's watchable. I can't really decide whether I liked it or not. It has some good parts and definitely keeps you interested, but the plot is beyond believable and the ending feels tacked together. Worth a rental, maybe.

Even though this was far fetched, I enjoyed and thought it worked well on the big screen.

Watched Inglourious Basterds on Sunday night really enjoyed it, not the most factually correct piece of cinema, but good fun all the same.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a fantastic film, watched it last night and was fighting back tears. The make up and special effects in the film are fantastic.

Really enjoyed both of these films, which is great as I had reservations about both of them. It is great to be surprised by a film. Frost/Nixon had the same effect on me.

The Hurt Locker - 9.5/10 Quite simply the best film I've seen all year.

Really looking forward to seeing this.

Saw Precious yesterday, which I'm a little unsure about. Plenty to like from a technical - such as the fantasy sequences - and acting standpoint (even Mariah Carey is relatively decent) but storywise it veers a bit too close to glorifying poverty. It is shocking watching all these misfortunes befall the protagonist, and films exploring such tough circumstances are vital, but there was something not quite right about the whole thing. Worth a watch, but perhaps overhyped. Watch the Wire if you want really hard hitting social commentary.

Also watched Festen (aka Dogme no.1) which is a small masterpiece. Intense and involving for the entire running time. The Dogme rules might make it look awful on occasion (no external lighting means baaaadddd exposure) but yet is completely compelling. I've only seen two Dogme films (this and the Idiots), but both have been excellent, and show a keen understanding of the benefits of such a back-to-basics approach. Although I still don't fully agree with all parts of the manifest.

Watched Event horizon again, man that movie sucked balls!
Some reviewer put it best with 'A retarded Goth version of 2001'

I've come to the conclusion that I hate every Paul Anderson film.

Event Horizon does suck, its like The Shining, shot as a sh1tty metal video, Anderson doesnt have an ounce of talent in his body.

Last night I watched The Incredibles, its still Pixars most underrated movie imo, and its easily one of the best superhero movies ever made

    Seen Wolfman tonight.

    Forgettable.

No great story to speak of, just boring really.

Couple of scenes that perked my interest but they soon passed.

I'd say Mortal Kombat is his masterpiece, daft but nowhere near awful. (Gotta love that memorable tune - da-da-da-da-DuDa-da-da-da-da-DaDu

I'll never forgive him for disgracing my favourite franchises Alien & Predator

    Who Framed Roger Rabbit. :)

It was going stupidly cheap & I had to at least have it for the collection.

    Seriously funny, always loved it.
