A guy with RH- blood who came into our ER told me that when the forum was created there was some concern over the information contained within and how it may turn the tide of Obama's future (now past) election campaign which may in turn have had a ripple effect which would uncover martian conspiracies, debunk the moon landing, release the truth about 911 and jeopardize the blood ceremony required by Obama to summon the spirit of the antichrist into him. The RH- blood is actually alien blood which allowed him to see the world for what it really is.

So, Obama's Zionist shadow government took Cloud on a small trip in a limo after which Cloud decided to create the forum in Hosted. The Zionists then raised the level of sodium fluoride in our drinking water, which acts as a catalyst for their memory suppression drug (obtained from the martians) so that...ermm...ehhh....ahh... erm I forget, what was I saying?

That maybe due to your sever retardation, I suggest you see a medical professional. As it happens GuanYin is a medical professional specialising in colonic irrigation.

Go to your user CP and switch on your irony monitor.

Also, you might want to tone down the abuse a bit. I know it wasn't that strong, but politeness will get you far on this site.

It isn't a 'real' part of boards if it's a hosted forum afaik.

As a complete aside, has anyone yet issued the email to all of moderators of, readers of, subscribers to and posters on the Arts forum with subfora for Babylon 5, Skylarkin, Sein Wars and Tuppenceworth; on the Business forum with subfora for couriers and MIJAG; on the CTYI forum along with Education; the Games forum with subfora for IGN, OpFlash and Soldat; the ICDG forum; the Ireland Offline forum; the Music forum with subfora for Alphastates, Anna Livia FM, Boards Band, Clergy, Energy FM, Phantom FM, Woodhazel Interactive and XFM; the Recreation forum with subfora for Cake & Pie, Juggling, Lego, Scouting & Guiding and Woodcraft; the Regional and LNA fora, the Science Forum, the Society Forum with the rest of its subfora including E-Voting, Irish Skeptics and Santa Strike Force; the Sports forum and its subfora Faceplant, Irish Skate Parks, Laois Athletics and the Spurs Supporters Club and finally the Technology Forum with its subfora Athenry Broadband, Digital Rights, Distributed Computing, DMZ, GMIT Computer Society, Google Earth and Tech Camp, to tell them all that they're not a 'real' part of boards.ie?

Someone might want to warn DeV - I think Santa Strike Force in particular is something he's vaguely interested in.

I cannot fathom why certain posters on the CT forum obsess over the location of this forum. Threads from AH, Politics, Economics and Green Issues (off the top of my head) regularly get moved to CT.

Why does it need to be moved? Whats wrong with were it currently is?

At a guess, the posters you're referring to (I don't know who most of them are and my guess is the same, regardless) want it to be more obvious and reckon that if it's in a "real" category as opposed to hosted that people will take more notice and take it more seriously.

Did Economics move from Biz to Soc and now needs more moderation? Will this not happen with CT?

I can feel this happening, but hey, it's only a Conspiracy Theory!

Many of the same posters who want to been taken more seriously subscribe to nonsense like
this photo is particularly evil imo....

    lbj_misc_2008_07_time-cover.jpg

two "horns" above his head formed from the letter "M" in time behind him.

5 sided star ( pentagram ) on his forehead. Draw lines from both "horns" to the pentagram and between the "horns" giving you an inverted triangle.

above his right shoulder is the number 99 ( 66 ).

above his left shoulder reads "leader of the redeem team". Redeem from what i can see has nine different definitions. Redeem in theology means " to deliver from sin and its consequences by means of a sacrifice offered for the sinner", (leader of the sacrifice/sinners maybe???)Lucifer sits on the left shoulder I think lol
    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/redeem

Lebron James is black but hes wearing a white kit. black and white ying and yang life and death.

two hands on the ball (earth, globe) might mean control of the world. The word molten with a flame sign pretty much speaks for itself meaning hell on earth , "as above, as below".

just my opinion sry if Im going off topic a bit....

I'd suggest that there is a simpler and easier way for these people to be "taken more seriously".

Yes. Economics perhaps got too much traffic and now we're clamping down. The signal to noise ratio became crap.

I can't see CT's ratio getting much worse.

Suppose it depends on how many people would notice it under Hosted compared to Soc?

Might attract more signal to noise ratio then, though in an opposite way to Economics!

Diogenes, my on regret frommy time as Mod was not Permabanning you. its exactly that attitude that you which has the CT forum marginalised, perhaps if it were in Soc we would have a wider audience and funnier people to make the obvious comments required instead of the same tired old Mob of 'Sceptics' trying topiss in everyones coffee.

as for that post above, have the decency to link to the thread, single posts taken out of context like that are always gonna look wierd and random.

anyway, some very interestin points raised there

Funny I'm pretty sure that petty abuses of power was one of the many good reasons you got defrocked.

No it's because many of the people and the things they talk about on the
CT forum is pure undiluted bat guano, that has the CT forum marginalised.

It's from a series of posts that claim that images of people on the front cover of TIME are altered to give people horns.

    See bat guano crazy.

(not directed at anyone in particular, just feel it should be said)

I don't understand the need to belittle people with a different view point. Boardsies are free to post within the topic of a board and should not have to be worried about "outsiders" coming in and insulting them for that. This very important concept holds true for the religious and spiritual boards, the S&S board, the Pro Wrestling board etc and should also be the same for CT.

If you cannot make a point without resorting to insults, then don't make it, you have already lost your arguement. Just stop reading the board and stop dragging these sorts of threads off topic and into mud slinging matches.

For the record, I don't see why CT shouldn't be moved to Soc, the site's expanded to such an extend that it definitely has a potential home there.

this was never intended to be a thread about my Moddin of the forum, this is a serious question/request about the CT forums place in the grander scheme of boards.

I would be grateful to all posters if we could stick to the topic at hand and discuss it in a civilised manner without makin snide jibes at the regular posters of the forum

CT seems to have attracted a fair bit of trouble and controversy in the last wee while . If it was in a "proper" category then there'd be the Cat Mods and Smods to sort stuff out and mediate rather than the mess that happened a few months ago where threads started in HelpDesk and Feedback were told to go back and sort it out in CT and then threads started in CT were closed and people were sent back to Feedback and vice versa.

After that fiasco I thought someone would've moved it.

Well, that aside, the whole issue surrounding hosted fora and smods reluctance to act there bears further looking at.

    Maybe it has been.

As of yet, we have been given no real instruction with regards to Hosted forums and as they are outside our remit, our hands are tied to a degree.

    I get ya :)

My primary "reluctance" to touch hosted forums is due to the fact that the communities involved in those forums "own" the forum to a certain extent and get to make up most of their own rules - not that they normally need any rules in the first place.

Clearly this is not what's happened in CT and both the community and the moderators are eager to make it something more public which operates like any other forum on boards.

As Beruthiel points out, after the last incidents we had neither the power nor the direction to do anything about the forum.

The Soc category is the sober older brother of Rec, and while I'm having trouble fitting CT into "sober and rational discussion", if the people who use the forum want somewhere to discuss this in a mature and seriousish fashion, then Soc is the place for it. There are already a number of forums in Soc who talk about non-rational things I suppose, so all that's needed is to enforce the "sober" part of the agreement.

With that in mind, the moderators are currently discussing their needs as clearly this forum is already a target for people who have some need to feel superior by making snide remarks and scoffing at the ridiculousness of conspiracy theorists. So a firm hand will be required (initially) to kick start the forum's "rebirth" with the right attitude.

We have the power to move the forum now, but I am reluctant to do it without the mods saying "yay", and having the backing of the CT regulars. And since DeV is online a lot for the next while, well he can do it. :)

Well, no harm to have the thing formalised to a degree, IMO. I mean, if there are instances of something outside the normal porn/spam etc., like say, bullying, on a hosted forum. I assume an Smod will step in then?

Also, just while I have you, have Smods now got forum creation powers etc. as well?

Would be nice to know what way the hierarchy works, and who does what, etc. :)

Basically, we shouldn't have to. I hate using real-world comparisons (because they're rarely up to the job), but it's like calling the Gardai because you're unhappy with the way your golf club is being run. What do you expect them to do about it?

If some user came to me and said, "Everyone on the Skylarkin forum has told me to piss off", I'd say, "Well then don't waste your time trying to play with them anymore and go find some new friends".

That's my understanding of what hosted forums are effectively meant to be - clubs which get to set their own agenda and which can choose to exclude or include whoever they want for whatever reason.
Also, just while I have you, have Smods now got forum creation powers etc. as well?

Would be nice to know what way the hierarchy works, and who does what, etc. :)
The hierarchy hasn't changed really. We have additional powers so that Cult's workload of simple stuff is relieved and he can focus on development and tweak - you know, the stuff he was hired to do :)
We don't have admin powers, just primarily powers to deal with most user and moderator requests.

It is a flawed analogy to a degree, and I take your point, in that it's hard to find one that fits. I guess the closest I can think of is complaining to next doors landlord, when the party guests start trampling your dahlias :)

And that would be proper order. However, when we have a situation (albeit rare) like what happened on CT, things can escalate to a level beyond simply leaving the party, rather quickly.

Indeed, quite right, and as it should be IMO. The smod role has evolved into something not far removed to that of community manager lite, among a myriad of other things of course.
